Abstract/Summary:
This study examined the relationship of self-awareness to prosocial behavior (donating behavior) as it relates to gender and ethnic/cultural differences. The sample included 91 male and female pre adolescents, ranging from 10 to 12 years of age, from different ethnic/cultural backgrounds. The hypothesized Self Awareness interaction with Prosocial behavior was insignificant, overall self-awareness did not predict prosocial behavior as well as being insignificant within demonstrating differences among gender. For the ethnic/cultural population the interaction of Self-Awareness and Prosocial behavior were not significant, one ethnic group did demonstrate a higher mean rate of prosocial behavior in comparison to two other ethnic groups.
