Quality of nursing care is a goal of hospital systems in United States. The first-line nurse leader role is crucial for clinical nursing quality. Effective leaders should possess clinical/technical, organizational, human relations, and critical thinking competencies that motivate and contribute to the quality goal of their organizations. Similarly, a hospital system's quality of nursing care may be affected by the nurse leader role competencies applied in the supervision and support of bedside nurses. This study analyzed the degree to which nurse leader clinical role competencies predicted quality of nursing care in a county hospital systems in the State of Texas. This study provided informed knowledge on how continuous improvement of nurse leader competencies could be a far-reaching strategy for transcending quality in a hospital system. |
