Abstract/Summary:
This study examined the association between a mother’s well-being and the incarceration of an adult child. This research study was an attempt to discover the specific physical, psychological, social, and financial problems experienced by mothers, as a result of having an adult child incarcerated. Results of the study indicated that having an adult child who has been incarcerated, is associated with a mother’s poorer psychological well-being. The researcher found support for personal and structural ties as mediators of the association between an adult child's incarceration and a mother’s psychological well-being.;Keywords: well-being, mothers, adult child, incarceration.
