Quality of the product is crucial for any business. Quality whether it is providing services or goods, describe characteristics that customer is willing exchange his money or services for. It is the ability to provide quality services and products that keep the company afloat and spell out difference between profit and bankruptcy. In mining quality is usually quantified by specific characteristics of excavated product and governed by customer quality specifications.; In mining of selective orebodies the quality of the excavated product is directly related to the size of the selective mining unit. Selection of the proper size contributes not only in creation of proper quality of the product, by limiting of dilution of the product, but also allow for better utilization of the orebody through selective excavation. This research will deal with creation of methodology that will aid in selection of Selective Mining Unit through firstly creation of the model of the orebody of interest and subsequent optimization of the Selective Mining Unit size to improve recovery and eliminate dilution.; The research is done using an example of a hard rock deposit; however the results can be applied to any selective orebody. The result of the research: a selectivity model is a representation of the optimum Selective Mining Units optimized to maximize orebody recovery and minimum dilution for particular areas of deposit of interest. |
