Abstract/Summary:
The Venezuelan banking system presents evidence of inefficiencies in the use of resources in an environment of high incomes and of a low credit intermediation. Considering this context the present study calculated, the present study calculated the efficiency of universal bank branches of Venezuela in the years 2003 and 2004 using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. This was chosen because of this practiced and flexibility for this type of studies. The score of efficiency in each Venezuelan branch is related to demographic elements, of size bank and city, of possession capital and the size of scale. This is the first study done calculating the efficiency of all the branches in the banking network on the same country.; Key words.
