This dissertation contributes to our knowledge and understanding of skilled migration from Sub Saharan Africa to the United States. Using narratives from skilled individuals from Sub Saharan Africa, the reasons for the growing migration rates in the region are outlined by collecting and analyzing data on an individual level. The study highlights some similarities and draws some parallels with prior conclusions in brain drain literature including insights on brain gain, the potential for return migration and the likely conditions that may facilitate skilled migrants return to their home countries. |
