Abstract/Summary:
This study took a multidimensional look at neighborhood satisfaction by exploring the factors that influence the level of resident satisfaction with their neighborhood. In addition to published materials, several tools were used to identify correlations between resident satisfaction and the social and physical characteristics within the residents' neighborhood. A mixed methodology was used to compare and contrast the levels of satisfaction between the survey respondents of two contiguous neighborhoods in the Detroit area. Many similarities were found between the two neighborhoods and specific themes emerged in terms of levels of satisfaction and dissatisfaction.;Suggestions were given that may be useful in terms of providing valuable information and recommendations to city planners and developers that may contribute to the prevention of further erosion of strong neighborhoods as well as provide insight for future planning and development in other Detroit neighborhoods.
