Abstract/Summary:
In this work the signal propagation between a transmitter and a receiver inside a room is investigated. Of particular interest are Ultra-Wideband(UWB) signals. A numerical model is developed to analyze the received signal characteristics inside a room. The variance in the power delay profile as a function of time is used to characterize the radio channel. This approach represents a point of departure from the previous work in channel characterization. The received signal is divided into segments of a fixed duration of time. Statistical parameters obtained each segment yield time varying mean, variance and distribution of the amplitude of the received signal. To do so, the received signal data, based on an experiment, will be statistically analyzed. A computational model based on the image method will be applied to simulate UWB propagation inside a room. The results obtained from the simulation will be compared with the experimental results. It is shown that the results obtained from the simulation are in good agreement with the experiment one.
