Abstract/Summary:
This dissertation examines the reasons for the lack of adoption of VoIP in people. Recently almost every new technology faces a very big challenge to be accepted in the marketplace. The major reasons possible were listed by extensive research in the papers published related to these technologies. Quantitative Survey was conducted for this study in the student community of SUNYIT in Utica New York Area.;The study tried to investigate whether lack of knowledge is affecting the adoption of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). Study tries to find the knowledgeable and ignorant communities of VoIP and communities who have adopted VoIP. Then the results of communities who have adopted VoIP are compared with knowledgeable community to get interesting result.;The results were analyzed with confidence level of 95% with confidence interval of 8. Results did provide evidence that knowledge level of a technology is very important for widespread of a technology.
