Abstract/Summary:
This qualitative study used a phenomenological approach to understand the lived experience of hearing mothers who are raising a deaf child with a cochlear implant. Individual interviews with eight hearing mothers were conducted, transcribed, and analyzed. Four themes and ten subthemes were identified from the interview data. Recommendations for professional practice were identified to encourage support and assistance to mothers in the rehabilitation process.
