| Candida albicans is an opportunistic fungal pathogen that causes a wide range of diseases in susceptible human hosts. In order to better understand the biology and behavior of C. albicans, I performed a genetic screen for cell surface molecules with roles in processes related to pathogenesis. I found interesting roles for a surface protein called 'Sun41', and made it the focus of my dissertation project. Here, I present the results of that project and the impact my work has made on our understanding of C. albicans. |
