transformation, upgrading, innovation and entrepreneurship, companies are faced with an increasingly turbulent environment.More and more companies are expected to respond to this kind of environment by initiating change, but how to improve the effectiveness of change remains to be explored. In previous studies, the research on strategic change has gradually shifted from focusing on objective factors to focusing on subjective factors. In particular, the belief at the team level is considered as an important factor influencing change, and collective efficacy is one of the most important variables.Collective efficacy is one of Bandura’s important concepts of collective behavior that comes after self-efficacy.In the era of globalization, informatization and intelligence, the interdependence between people has been enhanced. In reality, more and more challenges require people to accomplish their work through concerted efforts.Based on Triadic Theory of Influence,Bandura points out that collective efficacy is an important factor that affects the collective behavior of human beings. When the collective identifies, chooses and reflects on and targets a particular goal of behavior, their behavior embodies collective initiative.Collective efficacy plays a significant role in our response to various challenges in the current era.At present, foreign research has done a lot of research on collective efficacy. In contrast, domestic research is still in its infancy. As more and more scholars begin to emphasize collective and team-based psychological traits, collective efficacy has been considered by more and more researchers as an important variable to uncover the effectiveness of change.Research on team confidence(collective efficacy)has become an important issue to help companies face challenges.Domestic research on collective efficacy is based on the construct that is developed under western context, usually research uses western scales to conduct research with Chinese sample. In this study,in order to solve the problem of lacking localization research on collective efficacy,we focuses on Chinese context and designs three studies to promote the collective efficacy studies under Chinese context.Specifically,we conduct following studies by theoretical deduction and empirical research:(1)developing collective efficacy scale in Chinese context, exploring the structure of collective efficacy in Chinese context;(2)exploring the relationship between paternalistic leadership and collective efficacy, investigating how the leadership behavior under the Confucian background influences the collective sense of team effectiveness;and(3)research on the mechanism of how collective efficacy affects team effectiveness of change, exploring how team’s cognition about change functions between collective efficacy and team effectiveness of change. The results of this study show the following points.Firstly, unlike the single dimension of collective efficacy in western context, collective efficacy is a three-dimensional construct under Chinese context that includes internal joint belief, leadership belief and external resource belief.Secondly, the empirical study on the relationship between paternalistic leadership and collective efficacy found the moral and benevolent aspects of paternalistic leadership could positively affect collective efficacy;however, different from our hypotheses, authoritarian leadership was also found positively related to collective efficacy.Besides, moral leadership and benevolent leadership have an interactive effect on collective efficacy.Thirdly,in the study of the relationship between collective efficacy and team effectiveness of strategic change,we found that team cognition of change could mediate the relationship between collective efficacy and team effectiveness of change.Specifically, the team members’understanding of the necessity of change, perceived controllability and perceived outcome of change all partially mediate the relationship between collective efficacy and team effectiveness of change. In summary, this study provides a reference for the localization of collective efficacy in the context of China, and also contributes to the theory of paternalistic leadership, cognition of change and effectiveness of change. It is of practical significance to improve collective confidence and improve the effectiveness of change. Finally,we discusses the shortcomings of the research and provides suggestions for follow-up studies. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Collective efficacy, internal
