Affected by the interwoven processes of globalization, industrialization, decentralization and informatization, the form of China's urbanization has been radically reconfigured.Mega-city Region has emerged as the main spatial form of China's new urbanization strategy and become the basic unit of participating in global and regional competition.Since the concept of Megalopolis was proposed by Gottmann initially in 1957,scholars have invented various of concepts to describe the geographical phenomenon of urbanization at regional scale, such as Metropolitan Area,Megaurban Region,Global City-Region,Mega-city Region. And academic attentions have been devoted to the identification and planning of Mega-city regions most recently. In China, the dramatic spatial and demographic expansion of major Mega-city Region also needs to be examined both theoretically and empirically.Based on spatial production and relations, this dissertation uses the spatial multidimensional integrated thought TPSNF(Territory,Place,Scale,Network,Function)framework, summarize the physical space, network space, and functional space to reveal the multiple spatial relations. It believes that the physical space is growth pole, network space is the channel, the functional space is the result,They promote Mega-city Region to become the main form of urban system, and play an important role in regional economic growth. This dissertation uses the multidimensional TPSNF framework to study the physical space, network space and functional space of the Mega-city Region in the Yangtze River Middle Reaches, including the spatial identification of Mega-city Region, branch network of urban enterprises, and functional Spatial Analysis by Spatial Divisions of Labour.Based on the spatial difference and inequality,it discusses how the government can use the scale reconstruction to realize integration of Mega-city Region under the TPSNF framework. There are some significant findings:(1)The identification of physical space based on metropolitan areas..With the definition of 15 metropolitan areas using data of the national census in 2010,this dissertation identifies the physical space of Mega-city Region, proposes that the Mega-city Region in the Yangtze River Middle Reaches is composed of the core area, the extended area, the marginal area. The core area includes Wuhan Metropolitan Area,Chang-Zhu-Tan,Nanchang Jiujiang Metropolitan area and all Prefecture-level cities along traffic corridor. The extended area is the national planning area of Mega-city Region in the Yangtze River Middle Reaches in addition to the core area.Marginal area is the territory of Hunan,Jiangxi and Hubei province in addition to the core and the extended area. The Mega-city Region in the Yangtze River Middle Reaches shows the spatial pattern inter-provincial,polycentric and circular circle, which is well matched the fitting results of large-scale POI data density in Hunan,Jiangxi and Hubei.(2)The network space is examined by measuring the headquarter-branch linkages of enterprises. This dissertation uses 2013 Hunan,Hubei and Jiangxi Economic Census data to separate the parent enterprise and match address, build 268x268 contact matrix.Including regional, national and industry scale, industry is subdivided into manufacturing(Labor intensive,Technology intensive,Capital intensive)and services(Productive services,Basic services).Study the urban network space and use Arcgis software to visualize.Cluster in province is obvious,Wuhan,Changsha,Nanchang are significant core.Inter-province's linkage is sparse and the majority is service industry, manufacturing links are not significant.Geographical proximity, administrative grade and traffic play a decisive role in the investment.Especially in outside investment linkage,Hunan and Guangdong,Jiangxi and the Yangtze River Delta,Wuhan and Beijing-Tianj in-Hebei closely linked.(3)The functional space is analyzed by the Spatial Divisions of Labour through different scales, different subjects such as city(prefecture-level citiy, provincial capital),Development zone(national, provincial and new district),as well as industrial enterprises(industrial clusters, strategic emerging industries,500 leading enterprises and innovative enterprises),etc.Under the action of space cost, the development zone, industry and enterprise are agglomerating, the Core-Edge structure is significant.City use the space different cost to competite, the key lies in the formation of rationalization of division of labor.(4)In the study of the govenence of Mega-city Region and coordinated development,This dissertation analyzes the causes of the spatial difference and inequality of Mega-city Region, including enviromental, historical and economic factors,as well as the implementation of differentiated policies.Caculate Theil index of per capita GDP in 272 district during 1999-2015,declining after 2010 show that Mega-city Region strategy reduce regional inequality,Spatial Markov transition probability indicates the existence of regional development Matthew effect.Flexible scale reconstruction under the TPSNF framework and rigid administrative divisions become an effective tool in space management.Network become an important strategy for the coordinated development in Mega-city Region.Mega-city Region unify effectively by the inter-governmental cooperation,non-governmental organization nurturing and infrastructure improvement and optimization.
