In recent years, the sweep of the globalization boom, plus the increase in national income, health needs, the findings of benefits of gymnastics on children's growth, and teaching innovation have led to the establishment of private children's gymnastics clubs in Taiwan, some of which have been established for decades. That even franchise has emerged suggests that the market of gymnastics has reached a certain extent. In 2014,the Gymnastics Management Center of the State General Administration of Sports launched the “Happy Gymnastics” program. It is expected that the gymnastics training for children will be marketed. However, children's gymnastics clubs are still in their infancy stage, and they are extremely lacking in market-oriented management practices. Therefore, this research adopts questionnaire survey, field survey, expert interview, literature data review, and statistics methods to investigate the operation model of children's gymnastics clubs and the implementation of children's gymnastics courses in Taiwan,China. The findings are as followed:I.Business model. The majority of children's gymnastics clubs is small and medium-sized enterprise or personal studio. Most of the clubs are located in metropolitan city, especially Taipei which has 21 ones, the highest. The nature of each club, development goal, curriculum, and teaching content are roughly the same with each other. However, human resources, venue facilities and financial conditions are different depending on the scale of the club, the size of the venue and the number of students.II.Course implementation.I.Teaching objectives: The short-term goal is to build children' s physical fitness and develop basic skills in sports.Gaining various gymnastics skills(talent)is the medium-range goal.As for the long-term goal, children are expected to be self-confident and resilient.ii.Course organization: Course organization includes parent-child class, grading class, adult class or special class. It also focuses on small class teaching, with about 3-8 people in each class.Ability placement is based on age and only a small number of mixed-age class exists.III.Teaching method: Teaching methods such as imitation, segmentation, whole practice, using complement gears, and protective and assistive methods are flexibly implemented.Imitation and whole practice are applied to simple actions;while segmentation and imitation are suitable for more difficult or complex action skills. The primary task of teaching is to ensure personal safety of trainees. For individual differences in physical fitness and learning ability, various numbers of exercises are assigned.IV.Teaching content: Curriculum is carried out in accordance with the principle of gradual and orderly progress, adopting progressive strength enhancement to build children's physical fitness.Skill learning follows the principle “From Easy to Difficult; From Simple to Complex”.Basic skills are initially introduced by bare hands or exercise on pads, and are then applied to all kinds of equipment.V.Grading system & teaching assessment: Each club has its own grading system.Generally,it is divided into 4-6 grades.Assessment is taken place every six months.Qualified students are promoted to one higher grade and obtain a certificate. The summative assessment can also be conducted in competitions or performances.
