The goal of education is to cultivate person who is fully developed.Faculties educate undergraduates with their heart,love and care,which may determine the direction for the growth of youth life.Psychological education is one of the ten important educational systems in universities.The faculties' occupational mental health is the base of college education foundation.Most administrators emphase the faculties' level of education and scientific research ability,pay attention to the instrumental value of teachers,and neglect faculties' professional psychology.The existing teachers' psychological research always pay attention to primary and secondary teachers,and there are few researches on faculties.So far,there is no clear concept system of professional mental health for faculties in China,and no relevant assessment scale has been formed.Does the mental health of faculties embody Chinese cultural characteristics?What are the professional characteristics?What role does psychology professional knowledge play in the mental health of faculties?In order to answer these questions,the following research is conducted.Study 1,this paper discussed the psychological characteristics of faculties from the perspective of faculties,undergraduates and graduates on the basis of interview materials and literature analysis through the research method of grounded theory.The concept of occupational mental health of Chinese faculties was defined based on the potential psychological characteristics of good university teachers.The system of Chinese faculties' occupational mental health concept was constructed which including four dimensions.The dimensions were the mission level for professional ethics,the sensibility level for professional emotions,the competency level for professional ability,and the behavior level for professional adaptation.The theory of occupational mental health of Chinese faculties not only illustrated the elements of faculties' occupational mental health,but also emphasizes the dynamic characteristics.Sduty 2,a census of 25066 faculties from 145 public universities in 30 provinces was conducted by the questionnaire of Chinese faculties' occupational mental health.The assessment scale of Chinese faculties' occupational psychological health including four dimensions,nine factors and 88 items was formed after data analysis.The internal consistency reliability coefficient of this scale was 0.986,all the items were well identified,and the total variance explanation rate reached 52.030%.Using WHOQOL-Brief as the criterion,the faculties' life quality survey and statistical analysis showed that the Chinese faculties' occupational psychological health assessment questionnaire criterion validity was good.The combination of professional ethics,professional ability,professional emotion and professional adaptation could be used to predict the evaluation of the quality of life and four sub-dimensions.The adaptation index and regression coefficient reflected the good quality of the internal structure of the model.The good match of research model and sample data further verified the applicability of the theory and the usefulness of the scale.Study 3,this paper analyzed the effect of applying psychological knowledge to education practice on the occupational mental health of faculties.Owing to lack of psychology knowledge,the disciplinary faculties had lower life quality than psychological counseling teachers and counselors.The disciplinary faculties had a strong need to improve their mental health.The certificate of merit,marital status and job category were the adjusting variables for the mechanism of occupational mental health action on the quality of life of faculties.The satisfaction,work situation,work policy,guidance mechanism and supervision mechanism of faculties' mental health work in universities were intermediary variables.Based on above-mentioned research,following results can be concluded.First,the concept of occupational mental health of Chinese faculties was defined,and the professional mental health concept system with professional ethics as core was constructed.Second,the applicability of the Chinese faculties' occupational mental health assessment scale was verified by the quality of life assessment scale.Third,the important role of psychological knowledge applied in education practice to the occupational mental health of faculties was revealed.The innovation of this study was embodied in research orientation,research method and the survey of census.First,research orientation.Compared to faculties' instrumental value,this research paied more attention to human needs and the influence of faculties'professional psychological characteristics on faculties' subjective life quality and impact on the students' potential.Second,research method.The research method of grounded theory was used to construct theory.The builded theory has remarkable Chinese characteristics by combining with the situation to collect and analyze data,from the angle of the actors and the interactors.The integration of interactors into the research field was an innovation of grounded theory.Third,investigation method.The investigation method adopted the standard method of national enacting small census.Taking the national faculties as the whole,using the stratified and cluster sampling method,the research and implementation plan was combined with offline design and Internet survey to complete national sampling of college teachers' occupational psychological health through high efficiency,high quality and low cost.The actual sampling rate reached 1.591%,and the research results can reflect the overall situation of Chinese faculties.The scientific nature of the results was guaranteed by combining the research method of the grounded theory which focusing on the correlation and depth of samples and the survey method of the census which pursuing representativeness and breadth.A theoretical conceptual system of Chinese faculties occupational mental health was constructed by using the method of grounded theory,which was the development of local psychology.The questionnaire corresponding to the theoretical provided a realistic basis for the measurement of occupational mental health of faculties in China.
