Construction Of The Rural Cultural Halls And Production Of The New Gentry Communicative Spaces

In recent years,the rise of the rural cultural hall in Zhejiang Province is almost in step with the emergence of the new rural elites in the rural society.The research question of this paper is,how do the new rural elites in Zhejiang participate in the construction of rural cultural hall? Why did they turn to participate in the construction of cultural auditorium after decades of galloping on the road of rural economic development and political competition since the reform? In addition to the obvious changes of macro national policies and local government behaviors,what micro factors have influenced the enthusiasm? What is the practical significance of participating in the construction of rural cultural hall for the construction of their own social space and the establishment of cultural authority?According to the expectation of Zhejiang government,the construction of rural cultural auditorium is not only to build a pure cultural activity place,but also to consolidate the ruling party’s Rural Ideological and cultural position.However,in the cultural auditorium,New gentries communicate with villagers in etiquette and morality and more frequently in cultural life,and form a certain degree of organizational network;at the same time,they also communicate with each other between villages and between villages and governments.In fact,the rural auditorium is a communicative space with culture as the link,belonging to the group of new village sages.In the construction of rural auditorium,most of the new rural sages usually participate in a certain stage or some aspect of the auditorium construction,and a few of them participate in the whole process.In addition to the gender differences,the two most important factors that are conducive to the construction of the auditorium are the cultural interests and the demands of village governance.In the construction of the rural auditorium,the contradiction between the village cadres and the non village cadres represented by the village culture is more intense and obvious,and the competition between the village cadres is more relaxed and hidden.Fundamentally,the latter influences the former decisively.In the construction of the rural auditorium,the relationship between the cadres of the grass-roots government and the new rural talents represented by the village cadres is the relationship between the subject and the object of work.According to the degree of government initiative,it is arranged from strong to weak,followed by mobilization type,guidance type,support type and exclusion type.The first three relationships are directly from the pursuit of political achievements of grass-roots government cadres,while the fourth one is from the motivation of self-protection and profit-making of grass-roots government cadres.From the perspective of theoretical contribution,the "new gentry communicative space" in this paper is obviously different from the "public space" with ordinary villagers as the main body in the domestic rural research,and similar to the "gentry society" in the overseas Chinese research.The communicativw space of New gentries is more of a cultural public space,which is an integral part of the "cultural network" of the countryside.It has a certain potential of rural social governance,but it does not have the privileged function of "gentry society"."The communicative space of the new rural sages" is not the "dominant public sphere" actually existing in western society,but also different from the "free public sphere" in the sense of norms.Different from Habermas’ s ideal communicative production mechanism of communicative actors,the communicative space of xinxiangxian shows the cooperative production mechanism of communicative actors dominated by strategic actors.
