On The Shaping Of Chinese National Image And The Cultivation Of Chinese National Spirit

The national image is a comprehensive display of the political,economic,social,cultural and natural elements of a country,and a concentrated embodiment of the national strength and national spirit of a sovereign state.It is of great significance to build a good national image for improving national status,promoting national development and maintaining national security.National spirit is the summation of thoughts,concepts,consciousness and psychology formed in the long-term survival and development of a nation.It is a nation’s unique spiritual belief and value choice in response to environmental challenges.As a matter of great importance to the national interests in the field of ideology,the national spirit is the source of national rejuvenation and prosperity,and the ideological basis of national unity and citizens’ sense of national identity.Therefore,to cultivate national spirit means a great deal for shaping national image and maintaining national security.The positive shaping of national image can stimulate the patriotic enthusiasm of the people and enhance the national pride.The cultivation of national spirit is an important support for the shaping of national image.The shaping of national image is an effective way to cultivate national spirit.The shaping of national image and the cultivation of national spirit penetrate and promote each other.Starting from the realistic task of cultivating the Chinese national spirit actively in the process of shaping the Chinese national image,this paper puts forward and proves that there is an internal consistency between the shaping of the Chinese national image and the cultivation of the Chinese national spirit.These two coexist,advance together and promote each other.The paper starts from the study of the characteristic symbols,the main carriers,the communication channels and the realization paths that these two have in common.It finds the conjunction points between "Shaping of China’s national image" and "cultivation of China’s national spirit",and finally puts forward specific methods and realization paths to cultivate China’s national spirit in the process of shaping China’s national image.Based on the critical application of Joseph Nye’s soft power theory and Wendt’s constructivism theory,the author expounds in detail how carriers such as characteristic culture,national brands,national and state action display the national image and transmit the national spirit.Combined with the global background and the requirements of the times,the author concludes four methods for the cultivation of the Chinese national spirit during the process of shaping the national image of China.The four methods are carrying forward excellent Chinese traditional culture,building national brands with ingenuity,improving national quality to bring glory to the country,and taking responsibilities as a great power through active international actions to deliver the national spirit.At the same time,based on Saussure’s Elements of Semiotics and Lasswell’s"5W" communication theory,this paper divides the shaping of national image into several steps,including information symbolization,information communication,identification and image building.Hence,a path to cultivate actively the Chinese national spirit in the process of shaping the national image of China,a four-step road map of "building the Chinese symbol-broadcasting Chinese story-fostering Chinese spirit-passing on Chinese Dream",is put forward.
