Chinese Contemporary Political Pop Art Research

In 1978,China begun to reform and opening up,with the deepening of reform and opening up,our society,ideology and culture had had drastic changed.As a part of social reform,in the developing course of 30 years of fine arts,there has been a fundamental change in artistic works in both performance forms and themes.At the same time,in the context of the consumer society,the development of fine arts is diversified,and political pop art is the production of the diverse development.The political pop art was produced in a special society environment.It played as a pioneer which Chinese contemporary art stepped into the international contemporary art.As a special existence,the forming of the political pop art brought great shock to Chinese art circle.In this dissertation,the characteristic and art value are studied to carding the social,political,economic,and cultural change the political pop art faced during its forming and development,and this dissertation aims at providing a special reference for the development of Chinese contemporary art.Considering the particularity of the development of political pop art,historical research,literature research,and case research are taken as the main research system of this dissertation.Based on combing the development clue of the background of Chinese contemporary political pop art progress,the characteristic of Chinese contemporary political pop art was analyzed,and the development factors of the political pop art were analyzed in this dissertation.The change of the political pop art since the reform and opening up is the key study of this dissertation to witness the changing procedure of this special art history.The reform of any art school has its background of historical,cultural,economic and social background.The political pop art explores the artists' creative process by reflecting the political system and society culture.In the situation of reform and opening up,the society's wealth is of great enriched.The arrival of the era of consumption let people put the pursuit of materialism as the ideals.The art is also facing the temptation of materialism.It's a sensitive but cruel reality topic that how the artists keep the noumenon of art in the materialistic social environment.Some artists become a maker of commercial artwork,while some others persist on their own individuality.Both choices are very hard.To solve the problems above,the origin of the political pop art is taken as the start,and the change of the artistic image in every stage is taken as the clue to explain the flourishing of the political pop art in the early time of reform and opening up,and its transforming at later time.It includes some aspects below:The introduction firstly explains the target and meaning of the topic of this dissertation.Secondly,the situation of the political pop art is carefully carded,and the research method and the thinking of this dissertation is generalized.Chapter 2 is about some backgrounds of the political pop are: the political background,the economic background,the ideological background and the art background.The creative process of the political pop art under the complex and diverse environment is carefully carded.In Chapter 3,the development path of the political pop art is sorted.From preparation to prosperity,from stillness to transformation,the change of manifestation and meaning in different stages is carefully carded.By analyzing different changing reasons in different stages,it's reflected that the political pop art is the essential attributes and form-related art element of the artists' alternative political aspirations.In Chapter 4,the art characteristic of the political pop art is summarized.As a part of contemporary art,the political pop art has some international influence.Some features,such as creative theme,language performance,and special aesthetic effect are taken to analyze the particularity of the political pop art work.By transforming and borrowing the art symbol of the Cultural Revolution,the traditional political meaning is missing.Black humor and irony is reflected in the work,and playfully art symbols are used to reflect the artists' depression about the political utopia.Chapter 5 is mainly about the international influence and the evaluation of the political pop art.The channels which let the foreigners learn about China were rather limited.It had been a target of the western countries to learn about the Chinese society in an effective way.Art was just a right penetration channel.The political pop art showed some alternative political aspiration by borrowing the symbol of the Cultural Revolution,which let the western society believe it reflected the living condition and mental appearance of the contemporary Chinese people.The western community showed great interest to the political pop art.Under the influence of western ideology,Chinese political pop art had achieved rapid progress over a period of time.Artists obtained international artistic status by recognition of western ideology,and then promoted the prosperity and development of political pop art while gaining reputation in domestic,meanwhile significant commercial value of art had been obtained.In conclusion,political pop art was an outcome of the interaction between the art and China's political environment that transformed from conservative to relatively loose,and also the result of penetration of western ideology.It was a synchronization process between the attainment of international artistic status and penetration of western ideology,and the great merit was that political pop art had borrowed from the traditional political art symbols successfully,which makes contemporary people feel strange and novel and deep cultural identity.
