Yao Mangfu was a renowned painter in Beijing's painting circle in the early 20 th century,making great contribution to the continuation,development and innovation of traditional Chinese paintings,including literati paintings.However,due to historical reasons,there are few researchers on Yao Mangfu's painting art in recent years.This paper aims at that through Yao Mangfu's painting images,related to literature system,combined with the background of his time,the paintings are objectively analyzed and interpreted,and the artistic value of Yao Mangfu paintings form systemic cognition,and I hope that through my research,I can gain the inspiration beneficial to contemporary painting development,finally verify the value evaluation of Yao Mangfu's painting art in the period of the republic of China and even of Chinese modern art history.The main body of this paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction,which mainly explains the object,significance,main problems and research methods of this paper.The second part is the second chapter,which mainly combines the background of the times,carries out historical facts research,and expounds the growth and transformation process of Yao Mangfu from studying politics in his youth to abandoning politics in his middle age,and then studying and managing art.The third part is the third chapter and the fourth chapter.the third part starts with the living works,studies and summarizes the subject matter type and the characteristic of his painting works,and through the painting subject matter content research,demonstrates Yao Mangfu's painting art creation intrinsic motivation as well as to the subject matter development.The fourth part is the fifth chapter and sixty chapter,mainly through the cognition of Yao Mangfu's painting works,combined with speeches,Yao Mangfu's artistic proposition and its influence on the time and future generations.At the same time,it also objectively pointed out the historical limitations of its painting art.The fifth part is the conclusion.Through the research of the above four parts,I form a general cognition the Yao Mangfu's painting art,then draw conclusion: Yao Mangfu claims to seek innovation in the development of traditional Chinese painting itself,against complete westernization and stubbornly remaining unchanged.His paintings on the basis of inheriting traditional art,feel the life,observe nature,widen the art subjects.He has created his own unique artistic forms,such as pen and ink,color and pattern and has great influence on the Beijing painting circle to some extent and changed the traditional literati paintings in the painting subjects which are too elegant,difficult to be accepted by common people,and even has played a role in changing the rigidity and the spiritless state of artistic creation left over from the late Qing dynasty from Beijing.As a pioneer in exploring education of school art,Yao Mangfu made a great contribution to the rapid development of education of school art in the republic of China.Yao Mangfu emphasize such an artistic pursuit which means studying poetry,calligraphy,painting and engraving together and learning and painting are both important.It is still of practical significance to today's painting creation.
