From the perspective of the overall development of art,the Vienna school of Art History has made a significant contribution to the establishment of a strict and scientific study of art history,from the view of comprehensive art development.The introduction of the programmatic document "Vienna Genesis" wrote by Franz Wickhoff(1853-1909),who is the main founder of the school and devoted to exploring the law of the development of art history itself,focusing on the unique perspective of the internal relations between the intention and form of representational art,which has a profound influence and high academic value on the study of western art history.Alois Riegl was a peer scholor who was identified the talent by Franz Wickhoff,and thus cultivated a number of famous scholars,which made the research center of art history relocate from Vienna to Berlin.So the Vienna School called by Schlosser,which connected art research with psychological research,based on the visual analysis mode adopted by the thinking of the art works and the visual interest of images,and attempted to explain a series of research acts of completed artistic creation and to promote the perfection of the interpretation system of art history.This paper explores the academic origins of 20th-century art historians represented by E.H.Gombrich,based on the starting point of Franz Wickhoff's research,along with the research path of the Vienna school of art history sect.On the basis of evolution process of the Vienna school of art history sect and its significance to the modern art research,this thesis aims to examine the effectiveness of the introduction of the psychological analysis in art history,to further explore the significance of the sprouting thought of the Vienna school of art history contains in the research of "World Art History" to the study of art history at the turn of centuries.In this paper,attempts to reveal how the art historians of the Vienna School reached a consensus on the changes experience by the art researches,and how they transcend the limitations of the study of art history and stepped into the field of perceptual psychology across the scope of the history and archaeological research;by focusing on the artistic problems of intellectual originality and national strength in a specific historical period to reflect on the process of human mind leading to self-cognition through various stages of religious,philosophival and psychological development.
