| Under the impact of economic globalization,capital market and modern science and technology,literature is experiencing unprecedented dilemma and confusion.However,literary prizing has been popular and enduring.The reason lies in the coveting of "dividends" and "consecration power" of various stakeholders for the literary prize reputation(LPR).Literary prizes have the metaphysical functions of sociology and culturology,and generate multiple effects that embed the general rules of economics and management.The process of creating,accumulating,maintaining,and disseminating LPR also embodies and reflects the basic principles and wisdom of management,communication,and other disciplines.Unfortunately,most studies on literary prizing focus on its institutionalization and canonization functions,or on the evaluation mechanism of a specific literary prize and lack of thinking about its economic and managerial significance.Although some scholars have discussed the so-called "economy of prestige" in literary prizing,their perspectives still belong to the traditional category of literary sociology or culturology,which is far removed from a systematic interdisciplinary theoretical construction and empirical research on the influence of literary prize reputation(ILPR).Similarly,the existing research object of reputation is confined to for-profit or non-profit organizations.It has long neglected the concept of reputation management and the reputation economy generated by literary prizing as a special organizational behavior,as well as the theoretical and practical problems such as the logical connection between ILPR and the corresponding multiple effects.Therefore,by focusing on "reputation," the greatest common divisor of literature,economics and management,this study endeavors to carry out a systematic and interdisciplinary examination of ILPR by means of case studies,questionnaire surveys,and quantitative and qualitative methods.Based on an interdisciplinary perspective,this study proposes for the first time a systematic research on ILPR.It not only devotes to the theoretical and model construction of ILPR,but also pays attention to its empirical analysis and quantitative evaluation,attempting to expand the theoretical and practical horizons of researches on literary prizes and reputation.In a word,the contributions or innovations of this study involve three levels: theory,method,and practice.In theory,this study establishes a theoretical system of ILPR,which mainly covers four aspects: Firstly,it provides a conceptual framework of ILPR by defining its concept,connotation,characteristics,stakeholder network,and constituent factors.Secondly,it investigates the specific connotation and extension of LPR management,and analyses and constructs the generation path,management model and practical mechanism of ILPR.Thirdly,this study examines the representations of ILPR,points out that capitalization and canonization are the two core effects of ILPR,and takes Mo Yan as an example to make an empirical study of them.Fourthly,this paper constructs a model for evaluating the index of ILPR and tests its validity and reliability through empirical analysis.Methodologically,this study attempts to achieve three convergences: First,the integration of interdisciplinary research methods,concepts and ideas,that is,the integration of reputation theory,cultural capital theory,literary canonization theory and other interdisciplinary theories involving economics,management,communication,culture,sociology,and literature.Secondly,it combines quantitative and qualitative research methods and introduces statistical analysis into the traditional literary research model,which mainly focuses on qualitative analysis,so as to integrate the research methods of economics and management into literary research.Third,the integration of theoretical construction and case study,that is,while carrying out theoretical construction,also pays attention to empirical analysis.In other words,while striving to make theoretical construction around case analysis,this study also endeavors to test the rationality and scientificity of the theoretical construction through case analysis.In practice,the expected contribution of this study can be summarized into three main points: Firstly,for the country,it can provide theoretical support for the prosperity and development of literary prizes in China,thus contributing to the promotion of China’s cultural soft power and its cross-cultural communication.Secondly,for the management sectors of literary prizes,it is helpful for them to discover the shortcomings of related literary prizes in terms of reputation creation,maintenance,promotion,dissemination,and management,so as to provide theoretical and empirical reference for them.Thirdly,for all stakeholders of literary prizes,the evaluation results based on the index model of ILPR established in this study can provide a more credible reference standard for their decision-making on prizing participation,sponsorship donation,and marketing activities.This study consists of eight chapters,the main contents of which are as follows:The "Introduction" puts forward the main idea and significance of this research,and briefly introduces the research issues,research methods,research framework,and expected innovation.The "Literature Review" carefully examines the status quo of literary awards and reputation research at home and abroad and reviews the progress of reputation theory research under the framework of economics and management.Chapter 3,"The Theoretical Construction of ILPR",probes the definition and connotation of LPR,and summarizes its six characteristics and stakeholder network.Chapter 4,"The Factors that Influence LPR",analyses 14 main elements of ILPR from the aspects of its identity,management strategy,and stakeholders.Chapter 5,"Generation and Management of ILPR",focuses on the way of generating and managing the reputation influence of literary awards,defines the definition and connotation of the LPR management,analyses the generating path of ILPR,constructs the model of the LPR management,and probes into the practical experience and enlightenment of LPR management from the three dimensions of access management,process management,and post-management.Chapter 6,"The Presentations of the effects of ILPR",explores the general five main effects of ILPR,points out that capitalization and canonization are the two core effects of ILPR,and investigates Mo Yan as a representative example of this comprehensive empirical study.Chapter 7,"Empirical evaluation of ILPR",constructs a model for evaluating the influence index of LPR and carries out an empirical test with the samples of literary awards at home and abroad.Based on the evaluation results obtained from this model,this study approaches the problems existing in the establishment and management of reputation of domestic literary prizes and puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions.The "Conclusion" summarizes the main findings and contributions of the study,and explains the areas to be improved and the direction of the follow-up study. |
