This paper is a study of the Minjung printmaking in the Minjung art movement in Korea in the 1980s.Minjung art is a large-scale art movement in the history of Korean moden art in order to resist formalism and purism.This paper first analyses the political,social,cultural backgrouned of Minjung art and the situation of art circles at that time,and then studies the relationship between Minjung art and Minjung literature,which has great influence on its the-ory.In addition,in the mid-1980s,when Minjung art flourished,the case of LuXun woodcut movement was introduced into Korea,which had an ideological impact on Minjung art artists.What were these examples and what impact they have had on the art creation of works?In the development of the Minjung art movement,the art creation of Minjung prints made a great contribution.In the history of Korean art,there was never a period when the creation of woodcut spreaded so much.In this paper,the importance of public printmaking art creation is analyzed and studied through the life and works of representative printmaking artists.Minjung printmaking strives to express the importance of the people with the image of wood print-making.These efforts not only depend on the work of professional artists,but also on the participation of the public in the art creation of prints,which starts with the "Citizen Art School".Citizen Art School based on the general public's on-the-spot investigation and discussion of the surrounding reality of this era,which has won the resonance of contemporaries and neighbors in life.As a part of Minjung art education,Civic Art School made great contributions to the art education and development of the people in the 1980s.The activities of art groups played an important role in the art creation of artists and the creation of the general public.In 1979,"Reality and Speech" and " GwangJu Free Artists'Agreement" began the activities of the Minjung art group.Later,there were many groups such as "Im Sul Nyeon","Du Reong","Seoul Art Community" and "Spirit of the Times",which developed into "National Art Agreement Meeting" and "National Union of National Minjung Art Movement" in the mid-1980s.Many exhibitions,publications and other mass activities that individuals cannot achieve.With the theme of people's life and social reform,the artists who participated in the Minjung art movement created unique ways of expression,created works with the real meaning and image of the people,and achieved results through joint creation and other organized activities,thus realizing the Minjung art.
