Amerian Jewish Literature is an important part of American Literature, and it is of great concern to the domestic and foreign scholars as a minority literature.American Jewish literature reflects the religious belief and cultural background of the Jewish people, and also reflects the interaction and influence of the real world and the Jewish people in varions periods.American Jewish literature has a certain influence on the development of American literature because of its distinctive national character and unique national character in the form of formation and the communication of thought.Since the Jews have gone through four waves of immigration to the United States, many remarkable achievements have been made on the land of the United States through their indomitable national spirit.American Jewish writers of “the first generation” tend to stick to the characteristics of the Jewish tradition in the confrontation with the mainstream culture of the United States.Their works are in the form of a variety, which narrate directly and focus on the situation of the Jews in the United States.Although the Jewish writers have entered the field of American literature, their works have not far—reaching influence on the literary world. The works of “the second generation” writers are more influencial in the American society than “the first generation” writers. From Isaac Bashevis Singer(1904—1991)to Bernard Malamud(1914—1986),from Saul Bellow(1915—2005)to Phillip Roth(1933—2008),these Jewish writers inherited the tradition of “the first generation” writers, adhered to the discussion of Jewishness and identity and trauma caused by the holocaust,as well as the increasingly assimilated crisis of the Jewish people. And they began to create works with mainstream colors. In 1976,Saul Bellow won the Pulitzer Prize for the fiction Humboldt's Gift.In the same year,he won the Nobel Prize for literature. In 1978,Isaac Bashevis Singer also won the Nobel Prize for his Magician,King of the Wild.It can be said that American Jewish writers of “the second generation” brought American Jewish literature to the peak. From the beginning of the 1980 s,the works of “the third generation” writers have been published and they have won more attention all over the world. At the same time, they pay more attention to subjects of “Jewish retro”,“holocaust”,“Israeli Politics” and so on.The footfold of the works has always been to preach Jewish ethnics.Due to the prevalence of multiculturalism in the United States during this period,American Jewish writers no longer feel inferiority because of their ethnic minority status, but instead, writing stories of their own identity. To some extent,it reflects the return and reflection of Jewish traditional values.American Jewish literature of “the third generation” not noly returns to Judalism, but also reflects the characteristics of the reflection of Jewish revenge and holocaust.Although American Jewish literature has made remarkable achievements, its dissemination in China is still lagging behind, especially American Jewish literature of “the third generation”.Through the introduction of the development of American Jewish literature, the paper summarizes the national characteristics of American Jewish literature, including the spiritual demands, artistic characteristics of expressions in the works, and the historical clues of it—from the ideal form to the return of the theme. The paper also divides the boundaries of the three generations, sums up the writing characteristics of the three generations and their standpoints under the influence of American mainstream literature. The three representatives of “the third generation” are Michael Chabon(1963—),Nathan Englander(1970—)and Jonathan Safran Foer(1977—).By analyzing the works of them, the paper summarizes the writing characteristics and standpoints of them.Through the analysis of Chinese scholars' translation works, research papers and comparative analysis of different Chinese versions, sum up the present situation of the dissemination of American Jewish literature of “the third generation” in China. From this point of view, the current situation of the dissemination of American Jewish literature in China includes translation works and research papers.Through them, the paper analyzes the reasons why Chinese readers pay less attention to American Jewish literature and even literary works, points out that American Jewish films are the “second dissemination” of American Jewish literature, and argues that American Jewish literature of “the third generation” needs an “international vision”,that is,to transcend itself and beyond its limitations in order to achieve long-term development. The development of the nation is bound to be influenced and integrated by the mainstream culture, otherwise it will be marginalized.American Jewish literature needs to open itself. While insisting on Jewishness,it is necessary to open its eyes and step beyond the fetters of Jewish themes. And the Jewish themes should be placed in a broader, multi — ethnic cultural situation.Only in this way can we overcome the intolerance of Jewishness and make it acceptable.American Jewish literature can not only rely on the themes of the holocaust or the historical sympathy of the Jewish people to obtain the value of survival,it is also an important tool of communication between Jewish and other nationalities. It is not only a national diary, but also a tool and channel for communication and exchange with other nationalities. It must step out of such historical fetters. The analysis of the dissemination of American Jewish literature of “the third generation” and the study of American Jewish literature as a type of literary dissemination, not only broadens our vision of the study of foreign ethnic literature, but also draws lessons and inspiration from the development and creation of Chinese literature.
