On The Design Thought Of San Cai Tu Hui

The purpose of this article is to explore the basic problems of Chinese traditional design theory and provide a historical basis for the construction of Chinese contemporary design theory system based on related researches on the design literature called "San Cai Tu Hui"."San Cai Tu Hui" is an extremely important design document which includes rich literature in the forms of characters and images in ancient China.This article takes "San Cai Tu Hui"(the version of Shanghai Ancient Books press issued in June,1988)as the research object,systematically explains the whole literature content.Based on the design body,the researcher tries to conclude mainly design philosophy by proofreading three volumes including "palace","appliance" and "clothes" from three relationships between things and things,people and things,objects and environment.The author expects to find contemporary value through explaining the influence of historical design ideas on design practices so as to achieve the purpose of using traditional forces to promote the continuous advance of contemporary design theory.The article content contains six chapters except Chapter 1——introduction.The chapter 2 is about logical structure of the "Three Talents" highlighting the structure and content of the literature.For ease of description and understanding,this article divides the fourteen categories included in the literature into general categories,nature,artifacts,and the fourth world Parts.The third chapter explains the design theory system of "San Cai Tu Hui" in general,namely:"one kernel,two major systems,three major areas,and eight categories",and summarizes the system view and design features it embodies.Chapters 4 through 6 combine in-depth explanations of the contents of the three volumes of "The Palace," "Appliances," and"Clothing," deconstructing the three major design areas involved in the literature,and analyzing the two major systems of ancient design—image systems and techniques system.Chapter VII explores the inheritance and development of the traditional Chinese design system from the design concept of the "Three Talents",and puts forward its historical value and its contemporary significance.The main points of this study are as follows:1.As the core of the "San Cai Tu Hui" design system,San Cai Thought inherits the thought of the Chinese traditional "Kao Gong" design system.It is featured as dealing with the relationship between human,heaven and earth.It summarizes people's experiences in observing the world,understanding the world,and controling the world,and records the laws of development,movement,and change of things.Hence it can guide design practice in reality from three perspectives.Thought,purpose,method and aesthetics of design,as makes the design with dual attributes of nature and humanity and shows the design realm of harmony between human and nature.2.The "San Cai Tu Hui" highlights the "people-oriented" design value.The book is structured in according with the principles of pragmatism and thought by Wang Jiujian through the,is managing nation arranged in according with the philosophical logic of "three talents"of heaven,earth and huhuman beings and shows the overall characteristics of the system.From the perspective of contemporary design,the contents of the design documents compiled by this book,starting with "people",relate to many fields of contemporary design and have important theoretical guiding significance and practical reference value in contemporary design.The innovative points of the study are as follows:1.The article explains the ancient design theory from the design perspective,and focuses on the localization of the construction of contemporary design system.The greatest significance of the article is not to only complete a design task or finish a scientific invention,but to explore trivial or piecemeal design ideas and concepts appearing in ancient books,System valuable word,and in-depth study of its essentials.2.The article engages in proofreading literature word by word based on totally 19 volumes including the "palace","appliance","clothes".As a prose written in the classical literary form,the "San Cai Tu Hui" does not have interpretation versions of full text or volume so far.Due to the reference version is Ming version,rare words,not easy to identify,some of the modern deprecated glyphs,it needs to collect multiple different versions of the map reference to find out its true meaning,the job finishing both innovative difficulties,more difficulties.The value of the dissertation is as follows:Breaking the previous practice of placing the direction of Chinese traditional design theory under creation paradigms and creation activities,starting from the design ontologies,attaching importance to the historical origins,cultural patterns,social forms and ideologies,Customs,popular psychology and other factors,help to understand the inheritance of ancient design ideas and innovative,is conducive to inherit and develop the essence of our traditional design ideas.This research needs to be further explored:1.Although we have done a lot of work on documents' collection and collation,there are still many literature to be studied due to the enormous size of the "San Cai Tu Hui".Particularly except for the "Palaces," "Appliances," and "Clothes",other literature outside are not reflected in this study.2.Limited to research time,some problems are still to be studied in depth.For example,the interpretation of "San Cai"thought is still insufficiently systematic and in-depth,and the research on various fields of Chinese traditional design is weak.
