"Fictive motion" refers to a subject without any actual movement, but expressed by a verb or phrase with displacement meaning. In 1990s,fictive motion research has become one of the popular research topics in cognitive linguistics and psycholinguistics. The research area involves many aspects, such as theoretical discussion, cognitive interpretation, comparative research among different languages, empirical research and applied research. From the perspective of comparative research, the content is mostly concentrated in the comparison between English and other languages. The comparative study of fictive motion between Chinese and Korean is very few,and the research is not thorough and systematic. There are still many problems that have not yet been solved. In view of this,on the basis of previous research,we use the theory of Talmy's motion event framework to study the expression of fictive motion in Chinese and Korean, and restrict the research to the coding characteristics, the construction mechanism and the style of language. In order to systematically analyze the syntactic and semantic features of fictive motion in Chinese and Korean, this study starts from the following aspects:The first chapter introduces the research object, the significance of the research and the theoretical framework of this study, summarizes the relevant research at home and abroad.and explains the research methods and the source of the corpus. The second chapter analyzes the visual angle of fictive motion, defines the concept of fictive motion, and combs the classification of fictive motion,on the basis of this,to investigate the manifestations of various types of fictive motion in Chinese and Korean. The third chapter focuses on the conceptual elements of fictive motion—figure, motion, path, manner and compares the expression of fictive motion between Chinese and Korean.Through the analysis of Chinese and Korean fictive motion sentences, explain the similarities and differences between Chinese and Korean. The fourth chapter uses image schema, metaphor and metonymy, conceptual integration and mental scanning theory to analyze the construction mechanism of fictive motion. The fifth chapter analyzes the stylistic features of fictive motion, and investigates the constraints of stylistic factors on the grammatical components and syntactic operation of fictive motion. The sixth chapter is the main conclusion of this paper. This part summarizes the full text, points out the shortcomings of this paper, and forecasts the future research of fictive motion. The main conclusions obtained in this paper are as follows:(1)In the aspect of figure,From categories and combinations, the figures of Chinese fictive motion expressions can be divided into single type and composite type.According to the form of first appearance in discourse, the figures can be divided into non-identifiable type and identifiable type, and there are two forms in textual progression:one is 'background information + non-identifiable figure',the other is one type 'non-background information + identifiable figure'.From the spatial dimension, the figures can be divided into one dimension,two-dimensional and three-dimensional type. The typical characteristics of motion events depends on the categorization's degree of the figures.(2)#12(?)(3)In the aspect of path,it is showed as a dominant feature both in the Chinese and Korean, but for the coding of the path,Chinese mainly express by directional verbs and prepositional phrases, while Korean is using path verbs, phrases or case markers to encode.(4)In the aspect of manner, both Chinese and Korean can be encoded by verbs and adverbs with manner meanings, and the appearance of adverbial forms is limited, the adverbial expressing time or emotional experience can not appear in the fictive motion sentence. For adverbial expressing displacement speed, both Chinese and Korean can be allowed to enter the fictive motion sentence.(5)for the formation mechanism of fictive motion,First, the factual motion and fictive motion are syntactically and semantically. And the difference in the time axis shows the difference between the two image schematic structures.Secondly, there are metaphorical and metonymy mechanisms in the expression of fictive motion, and the two can play a role in the subject of fictive motion at different levels.Thirdly, the expression of fictive motion involves two kinds of conceptual integration types:mixture type and intercepting type. Finally, the fictive motion expression reflects two mental scanning modes:summary scanning and sequential scanning.(6)In terms of the style of fictive motion,it is belong to expository discourse. There are great differences between fictive motion and factual motion in tense, mood, modality, syntactic elements, syntactic operations of negative and passive. The syntactic shaping function of linguistic style for fictive motion can be found in two aspects:one is the shaping of grammatical elements, which is represented by the choice of time information, the rejection of mood modality and the default of complement component. The other one is the restriction of syntactic operation, which is manifested as the choice of negative expression and the restriction of passive operation.
