Research On Xu Zhenmin's Orchestral Works

Xu Zhenmin is one of the most influential Chinese composers in 20 th century.He merges profound literary temperament into the music creation to form distinctive music language.Xu Zhenmin's works cover a variety of forms including vocal,chamber,and orchestral music.Among them,orchestral music boast,which was staged in more than 20 countries(Japan,Singapore,etc.)and domestic,boast the highest achievement and the greatest influence.This dissertation studies Xu Zhenmin's orchestral works on different topic at different times and focuses to analyze the evolution process of his composition technique as to present the poetic features and humanistic significance of his orchestral works.The full dissertation has six chapters: the first chapter summarizes the background and cultural context of Xu Zhenmin's career as a composer.The second to fifth chapters analyze the compositional techniques in his orchestral composition from the perspectives as follows: the main theme,structure,harmony,orchestration.The sixth chapter states about the evolution process of his composition technique and the thoughts of cultural aspects during his orchestral music writing.This chapter analyzes his music,and goes deeper into cultural aspects,aiming at discovering the characteristics of Xu Zhenmin's Orchestral music and his concepts about composition,rooted in oriental culture.Finally,the chapter summarizes Xu Zhenmin's composition techniques and styles and provides deeper thoughts about the meaning of his unique poetic expression,resulted from his own cultural experience,to contemporary music composition.
