The relationship of Chinese modern poems and Chinses classical tradition is related to modern poems' validity,essence,evaluation standard and future development.The tradition is never steady in our vision,it is a chain of variants which is extended.Tradition is not single,stable and passive,it is complex multi-line and changing.Tradition which is a proactive power enters current discourse in every time,and joins the construction of language and thought.In the thirties of the last century,a part of modernist poets based on preference for Late Tang Dynasty poetic style have discussed Wen Tingyun and Li Shangyin's poemtrise in both theory and creation,make an example for modern poems learned classical traditions.This literary phenomenon is named modernist Enthusiasm of Late Tang Dynasty poetry by later academia.The passed discussions of Enthusiasm of Late Tang Dynasty poetry are related to the revolution of the concept of modern poems in 1930s,the search of the modern poems' nature and the relationship of classical tradition,modern poetry and western literary resources etc.There is many schools in Late Tang Dynasty poetry,someone inherited Yuan&Bai described people's livelihood,someone displayed passionate sensuality like Wen&Li,someone continued Yao&Ja singed their feelings in seclusion.The style of Wen&Li poetry belongs the school of anti-utilitarianism and non-rationality in Chinese classical poems,it paid attention to artistry and independence of literary,emphasized freedom of imagination and the performance of the heart,pursued the transcendence of language art to the real world.The main feature of Late Tang Dynasty Poetic Style:1.Late Tang Dynasty poetry deviates from tradition of poetry instruction,its Social awareness weakened,literary utilitarian reduction,subjectivity increased and emphasized the display of rich inner universe.2.Late Tang Dynasty poetry rebelled against the modest tradition of the joyous but not indecent,mournful but not distressing,is inextricable,commiserative and decadent in emotion,and drown in sex and pleasures.3.Late Tang Dynasty poetry represented by Wen&Li transcends the tradition of analogy and association of inspiration from things and expression of feelings,breaks the boundaries of time and space by subjectivization,combines poetic images freely.So the poetry is obscure,away from the prosperous Tang Dynasty poetic tradition which is approachable.4.Poetry in the late Tang Dynasty carved text,exercise phonology,pay attention to the use of antithesis and allusion.The language is graceful and delicacy with a beautiful form of beauty and phonological beauty,the pursuit of visual beauty and sensory stimulation.Western modernist symbolist poetics was widely accepted in the thirties of Chinese poetry.Symbolism and the late Tang poetry have an inner connection.They are all literary trend of pursuing of pure art,are committed to the creation of the image system as the core,obscure for the appearance to the new poetry ideographic model,have a decadent and aesthetic features,pay attention to the color,visual and decorative of the poetry,advocating exquisite,dazzling language beauty.Peking modernist and Beijing school scholar have more overlap and mutual exchange each other.They all demand that poetry keep a distance from reality,excuse the instrumental of poetry literature,except romantic sentimental catharsis,emphasis on more control,more sensitive poem' s feeling,pay attention to the poetry performance of fun.They admire the hazy beauty of poetry,emphasizing the relationship between poetry and hidden,pay attention to the use of poetry imagination,symbolism and fantasy techniques.They all have an aesthetic tendency.Relative to the sense of meaning and value judgments,they think poetry the aesthetic experience of appreciation and criticism is more important.Fei Ming,Bian Zhilin,He Qifang and Zhu Yingydan had discussions or confessions of the connection between modernist poetic creation and late Tang poetry.Among them,the most representative poetic theory is from Fei Ming.The discussion of "Wen Li" in the late Tang Dynasty is an contact.Dai Wangshu has always been regarded as the leader of the modern school of poetry.He can remix the French symbolism poetry and national traditions better,showing a deep connection with the poetic style of the Late Tang Dynasty.Dai Wangshu broke in the traditional presentation of extempore eyricism by symbolism,create a fantasy with feeling,organized a classical image of the world which is relatively simple,complete and exquisite beautiful.The use of the image with a jump,multiple modification,feeling sensitive and blurred.Dai Wangshu preferred to use cold natural image,sensual female body image and trivial dull artificial image.Its poetry have more performance of love sentimental infatuation lingering and self-injury mourning,at the same time it have a tendency which is from love to desire under the influence of commercialization.Bian Zhilin writing poetry especially focus on skills and language,the resources which He inherited from Later Tang Dynasty and Five Dynasties poetic style is also the skills and language.Bian poetry mixes classical elegant poetic languages in the use of modern vernacular spoken language,improved new poetic language tool in the words,grammar and semantics,to create a new poetic vernacular which is different to prosaic vernacular and adapt to new poetic expression and new poetic form.Bian Zhilin had the awareness of classic poetic language which pursues concise implicative.He focused on poetry language and phonology as well as Late Tang Dynasty poets,committed to creating poetry images which are fine and colorful very much.He also pays attention to the use of allusions,infuses classical quotation into new poems,formed a poetic language style of connection of ancient and modern.He Qifang is more similar to the Late Tang Dynasty poetic style,he transformed classical lovesick poetry,inherited Wen Tingyun's poetic style to create the female role who is pretty and dazzling.And he also created young girl image which is very pure,very bright.His feminine writing is full of coquettish wind and soft beauty.He Qifang also used dream to drive imagination,writing about childhood,love,hometown and life,used dreamlike logic to connect poetic images and allusions,combined Li Shangyin and T.S.Eliot's poetic intertextuality to create a wonder of the allusions in modern poetry.Modernist's acceptance of the late Tang Dynasty tradition is complicated,which has the background of the times,the main features and acceptance of the three aspects of the content.In the Late Tang Dynasty and the Republic of China in the 1930s,they belonged to the special period of freedom of thought,social unrest,but still able to maintain basic stability.The Late Tang Dynasty is the transition period of classical poetry and many of the pre-modernity factors broke out at this time.The search for the poetic quality of fine art and beauty in the process of the development of new poetry in the thirties decides explorer of modern poetry to choose the Late Tang Dynasty poetry as a reference.Young poets in the thirties gained space to re-examine traditions.They can be dialectically and equally face to the tradition,with modern can find common ground in Chinese and Western poetry,based on oriental character to accept the Western influence.So they are in the integration of the West has achieved good results.They pay attention to the writing of poetic feeling,focus on digging people's inner world,are good at expressing keen,and even some neurotic feelings.They prefer to write the ordinary,small things in ordinary life,trying to see the novel from the plain.This leads to the narrowing of their poetic realm.The Inheritance of the Late Tang Dynasty poetic art of modernist is a comprehensive reflection of the early view of vernacular poetry and is also the process of trying to get modernity from classical tradition.The Application of Poetic Fantasy Imagination,unique image shaping and organization,obscure way of communication and Exquisite elegance language features are the concrete expression of Inheritance of the Late Tang Dynasty poetic skills of modernists.Modernists in the process of learning the Late Tang Dynasty poetry also put forward their own ideas on the poetic performance of the obscure issues trying to influence the reader's acceptance of poetry and update the reader 's aesthetic thinking.Tradition is the inevitable foundation of the existence of Chinese modern poems.However,new poetry are built on the premise of the rebellious tradition.The value of new poetry is reflected in the inheritance of tradition and rebellious tradition.Therefore,the new poetry and the classical tradition formed a kind of unity of opposites in generation,existence and evaluation.There are both gains and losses when the Modernism references the tradition.As some of the modernist poems excessively imitated the ancient works,these poems exude an atmosphere of stale,empty and pompous.As some of the poems excessively emphasis on the cultivation of the rhetoric and the depiction of the details,these poems lost balance in component and overall.Some of the poems also lost the obscure charm as they are too much jumping on the poetic imagery and the meaning of the context is vague.These are the lessons we should learn when we are on the way of making new poetry to draw on tradition.
