In East Africa, healthcare organizations face many supply chain management challenges that can be addressed through effective operational and management decisions. This article aims at East African countries represented by Ethiopia.Although existing research has achieved certain results in the field of supply chain risk management and due to the increasing complexity of service supply chain management in East Africa, managers have found that traditional methods are difficult to effectively address various challenging issues.Although some studies have achieved some results in the field of supply chain risk management, there is little literature on the strategic procurement risks of cross-industry sectors from a multinational perspective. In response to the above issues, the following researches have been carried out in this research:(1)The impact of factors such as social ties, institutional support,inter-agency cooperation, and external flexibility on risk mitigation in the healthcare supply chain was discussed. The research results show that the two factors of inter-agency cooperation and external flexibility have a greater impact on the risk management of the healthcare supply chain, but the impact is more significant in developing countries. Therefore, monitoring of risk management should be at the core of world health organization(WHO's)operations and strategic management.(2)Discuss the five dimensions of SCM:suppliers, specifications, standards, delivery and after-sales service, and study its impact on the quality of healthcare services in the healthcare sector in Ethiopia.Among them, service quality mainly considers three aspects of the response, trust and security. The results of the study indicate that the combination of Ethiopian private health sector suppliers, specifications, standards, distribution and after-sales services is related to the quality of healthcare services.(3)A competition priority consisting of cost, quality, flexibility, and delivery is proposed, and its impact on the three types of participants in the supply chain capabilities:suppliers, distributors and customers. The empirical results show that the competitive advantage of Ethiopian pharmaceutical and medical suppliers has a positive significance for supply chain capabilities. Therefore, this research confirms that cost, quality, flexibility, and delivery have a positive impact on the supply chain participants(ie,suppliers, distributors, and customers)of Ethiopian pharmaceutical and medical suppliers.
