With the rapid development of social economy,sheep and goat meat,as a kind of high quality meat,has become an important part of residents' meat consumption.Driven by the consumption demand,the meat sheep and goat industry in China has achieved a rapid development and become an important way for farmers and herdsmen to increase their income.However,the development of meat sheep and goat industry in China is facing various pressure,including increasingly fierce international competition,the restriction of resources and environment,and improvement of production efficiency and product quality.Meanwhile,its further development is restricted by the low level of the scale,organization and standardization.Under this severe situation,it has become the common concern of enterprises,government and scholars that how to organize the meat sheep and goat industry to achieve enhancement of the management benefit,improvement of the product quality and the sustainable development of meat sheep and goat industry.Therefore,it helpful to provide references for the government to make relevant policies and the enterprises to make business decisions,to research the operation machnism of meat sheep and goat industry organization from the dual dimensions of the improvement of benefit and quality under this background.Firstly,the research made theoretical annalysis on the main body benefit of meat sheep and goat industry,product quality and industrial organization,using the relevant theories of Microeconomics,Information Economics and Institutional Economics,and made discussion on the mechanism of the effect of meat sheep and goat industry organization on benefit and product quality,as the theoretical bases of the research.Secondly,starting from the key stages of the meat sheep and goat industry,it analyzed the organizational forms of breeding and and processing and its impact on benefit and quality.Thirdly,the research studied the vertical cooperation between the two stages of breeding and slaughtering and processing,by analyzing the basic form and determinants of vertical coordination,its effect on benefit and quality,contract design and farmers,participation.Fourthly,the spatial agglomeration of the meat sheep and goat industry was researched,taking relevant supporting industries and institutions of the meat sheep and goat industry into consideration.Fifthly,econometric analysis was made to measure the influence of industrial organization on the benefit and quality control of sheep and goat keepers.Finally,it discussed optimization of the operation mechanism of meat sheep and goat industry organization to realize the improvement of benefit and quality.The main conclusions of this study include:firstly,industrial organization is an important factor which affects the benefit and product quality of meat sheep and goat industry.Industrial organization can affect the producers' benefit by influensing the cost and product differentiation,and affect the product quality by influensing the ability and incentive of the producers' quality control.Secondly,The organization efficiency of breeding of meat sheep and goat is the consequence of production factor and production incentives.The advantages of production costs decrease but the advantage of diversification increases gradually from household management to cooperative breeding,and then to corporate breeding.Thirdly,slaughtering and processing of sheep and goat is the key stage of product differentiation and value promotion.The slaughter and process of sheep and goat appears the different stages,from mainly slaughtering to segmentation and grading and then to further processing of meat and its by-product,the degree of diversification and value increases gradually.Fourthly,the vertical coordination of meat sheep and goat industry is the result of the tradeoff among production cost,management cost and transaction cost.The enterprise product quality and production scale are important factors to promote close vertical cooperation.Fifthly,the influence of the industry agglomeration on the related subjects' benefit and product quality is mixed,and opportunities and challenges coexist.The characteristics and possible innovations of this study include:firstly,the operation mechanism of the meat sheep and goat industry is comprehensively analyzed from two perspectives:benefit and quality.Secondly,distinguished analysis was made on safety and nonsafety attributes,and the producers'quality control index system including safety and nonsafety is established for quantitative analysis.Thirdly,econometric analysis was made to measure the influence of industrial organization on the benefit and quality control of sheep and goat keepers,using the micro survey data.
