Early-warning satellites are an important part of the missile defense system. Its main functions include missile launch point estimation, orbit prediction, and kinetic kill vehicle guidance.According to the orbit altitude,early-warning satellite systems are divided into two types: high orbit and low orbit. At present, research on high-orbit early-warning satellites has gradually becomed mature. In early 2018,the United States successfully launched GEO-4 into orbit, marking the completion of the full deployment of its own SBIRS(high-orbit early-warning satellites). However, due to the huge size and complex technology of the low-orbit early-warning satellites, they have not yet been officially put into use. Moreover, due to the strategic significance, the low-orbit early-warning satellites attract powerful politicians fighting for supremacy.Based on the STSS(low-early-warning early-warning satellites)of the United States, this paper conducts an in-depth study of the spatial coverage,multi-target tracking,multi-satellite joint scheduling and full system simulation in the domain of low-orbit early-warning satellite systems. The main research results are as follows:(1)Collect and interpret relevant information of the current world's advanced early-warning satellite systems. The early-warning satellite system is an important guarantee for national strategic security and also the core secret of various countries. The paper mainly gathers the information on the satellite configuration, deployment, development plan and functional performance parameters from the US and Russia. Moreover, the paper deeply analyses the difficulties faced by China in this field. The paper will lay the foundation for China to develop and deploy its own early-warning satellites.(2)An analysis method for early-warning satellites coverage and tracking capabilities is proposed.Based on the characteristics of low-orbit early-warning satellites, constellation, spatial coverage and missile free-segment tracking models were established. The grid analysis method was used to calculate the coverage of the celestial spheres in different heights, and to solve the spatial coverage of the low-orbit early-warning constellation. The sequential tracking strategy and stereoscopic observation mode was used to verify the multi-target tracking capability of the constellation.(3)The predictive scheduling method for early-warning satellites was proposed. The early-warning constellation has multi-target tracking capabilities. How to schedule satellites to achieve the best warning effect is an urgent problem. The paper proposed a scheduling method based on task decomposition, which transforms the dynamic scheduling process into static interval scheduling to simplify the satellite-target correspondence relationship. Moreover, the paper developed a new multi-layer coding genetic algorithm as the core of the solution framework, and formulated a scheduling optimization index including the satellite contribution, switching frequency, and load.Simulation results show the effectiveness of the method.(4)The reactive scheduling method for early-warning satellites was proposedThe situation on the battlefield is changing rapidly. The one-time scheduling plan can no longer meet the actual requirements. Therefore,it is necessary to adjust the scheduling plan according to emergencies constantly. How to minimize the adverse impact of unexpected events and guarantee the mission completion is another difficulty in the research field of early-warning satellite scheduling. The paper designs a scheduling strategy for the sudden increase of enemy targets and partial failure of one's own early-warning satellites. Moreover, the preemption-repair scheduling models were built, and the scheduling stability index was introduced. The simulation results show the rationality of the new program, also analyze the correlation of multiple scheduling indicators, paving the way for comprehensive decision-making.(5)The model specification and service method for early-warning satellite system was proposed. The development and deployment of early-warning satellite systems is a long-term and complex process that requires the participation of multiple research institutions and even several generations of people.Based on the simulation theory and domain knowledge of early-warning satellite system, the paper developed a complete set of modeling specification to constrain the simulation models. The model-driven theory has been practiced and a series of model service tools including simulation engine and debugging software have been developed.(6)The general simulation platform and early-warning satellites ground simulation systemIn this paper,a self-developed general simulation platform is used to perform ground simulation tests on the early-warning satellite prototype system. The tests include early-warning strategy analysis, entire warning process simulation, emergency simulation and other special subjects. The advantages, disadvantages, spatial coverage, and multi-target traceability of early-warning satellites are analyzed. The correctness of the scheduling strategy, subsystem interface, flight phases and control instructions was verified. The impact of emergencies on the early-warnings was studied. The research work directly focuses on several important issues of early warning satellite constellation, and develops models, simulation techniques, scheduling algorithms, softwares, etc. Therefore, this paper has outstanding engineering application value and certain theoretical significance.
