| Technology innovation ability is not only the important guarantee for enterprises to improve competition ability and achieve durable development,but also an impeller to promote national economic growth.Thus,on one hand,the government releases a series of policies to ensure the significant role of technology innovation,on the other hand,it guides the enterprises to improve technology innovation ability with funding,subsidy and so on.However,despite the strong support by the government for independent innovation,some of the state-owned enterprises(SOEs)from the industry with fully competitive market,such as complex consumer products(CCPs)industry,with their advantage identity,obtain resources,investment and opportunity for development,but fail to master the independent intellectual property rights of core technology and lag behind the private enterprises,which is evidently manifested in Automotive industry in China.What is the reason that enterprises with different organizational identities have different level of technology innovation ability?What are the factors that affect the development of technology innovation ability?And what’s the effect mechanism?Making clear of these questions is necessary for us to understand why enterprises embedded in fully competitive market develop different technology innovation ability with differential organization identities under the institutional context supporting independent innovation.Based on the organizational management practice and the literature,this dissertation takes both external and inner contexts into account.According to the logic chains of institutional logic,organizational attention,organizational response and technology innovation,this dissertation answers the following questions:1)what are the external institutional logics that enterprises embedded in and their relationship mechanism?2)how does the enterprise pay attention and respond to the multiple external institutional logics and the complex logic demands?3)how does the responding model based on the selective attention affect the development of enterprises’ technology innovation with different organizational identities?Thus to analyze the technology innovation mechanism of enterprises with differential organization identities under the integrated framework.This dissertation selects the Chinese Automotive industry as the research subject.First,using the descriptive analysis method,this study identifies the logic demands and the dynamic evolution of government-driven logic and market logic that auto-enterprises embedded in and how enterprises with differential organization identities evaluate the importance of these dual logics.Second,by the method of grounded theory,this dissertation makes a comparative analysis on the attention model and the forming mechanism between enterprises with different organizational identities.Third,the study chooses case study to analyze how enterprises with different organizational identities respond to the complex institutional logic demands.Last but not the least,by analyzing how enterprises’ responding affect their technology innovation ability,this study constructs the process model of enterprises technology innovation mechanism with differential organization identities.Thus,this dissertation comes into three conclusions:1)under the context of transition economy of China,the government-driven logic and market logic that enterprises from the industry with fully competitive market embedded in evolve in both the logic demands and their relationship.The relationship between them changes from compatible to competitive,which is a game process under the rule of profit maximization.With different organizational identities,based on their own benefit appeals,the SOEs take priority of the main demand of market logic and the government-driven logic takes the second place;the private enterprises sees the government-driven logic as an important impeller.2)SOEs and the private enterprises have different attention model to the dual institutional logics.Although the attention perspectives of them are the same,which includes market,policy,technology innovation and employee benefits,the selective attention differs from each other.The attention of SOEs focuses on market logic,and follow-up to government-driven logic,which means that SOEs take priority of market logic for its positive relationship to the enterprises’ short-term benefit,but the attention to the government-driven logic is ostensible to maintain the institutional support from government.What’s different from SOEs’ selective attention is that the private enterprises proactively match with the government-driven logic,which means that although there is no institutional pressure,they focus on the government-driven logic to seek for opportunities for development.Thus,due to the purpose and degree of the attention,enterprises with differential organizational identities develops different level of technology innovation ability.3)for the government-driven logic,the responding of SOEs is ostensible,but of the private enterprises is substantial.For market logic,the responding of SOEs is following-up passively,but of the private enterprises is exploiting proactively.However,the relationship between SOEs’ response and its technical capabilities is negative,but of the private enterprises is positive,which comes with the different level of technology innovation abilities.To be summarized,the mechanism of enterprises’technology innovation is complex,which is effected by multiple context factors from both outside and inside.Enterprises,especially from the industry with fully competitive market,have different attention focus and responding models,which effect the development of technology innovation abilities. |
