The Research On Landscape Theory And Method Of Mount Heng

Mount Heng is the Southern Sacred Mountain of Chinese Five Sacred Mountains.It is a famous Taoist and Buddhist holy land and is also a national scenic area.The natural landscape of Mount Heng is majestic and beautiful,and the cultural landscape is sacred.The original mountain worship culture,Taoism,Buddhism and Confucianism have gathered here to merge with local scenery.After thousands of years of alternation and decline,Mount Heng is formed like today.This research takes Mount Heng as the research object and conducts in-depth research on the landscape theory and method of Mount Heng with three dimensions of time,space and culture.Firstly,the paper summarizes the natural features and cultural landscape formation of Mount Heng following time and changes of religious,and then sorts out for factors which influence the development of Mount Heng from ancient to the present.Second is the research of landscape theory and method of Mount Heng.The research of scenic features includes the national scale,learned from traditional Chinese geography philosophy,this paper attempts to find the special relationship between Mount Heng and others Sacred Mountains,Taoist Grotto-heaven System,the capitals of every dynasties and Southern Sacred Peak system.On the Scenic Area scale,the evolution and characteristics of the natural and cultural landscape elements,overall landscape pattern and sequence,and scenic route organization of Mount Heng are studied.The research of temples landscape design includes the analysis of the overall layout and architectural,guiding and environmental space of temples.Finally,the paper concludes the protection and renewal work on Mount Heng and puts forward suggestions for the protection and inheritance of the future Mount Heng Scenic Area.Through the above research,this paper summarizes landscape features of Mount Heng as follows:1.The formation and development of "three religions in one and mutual influence";2.The spatial orientation of "the south of China and the Sacred Peaks of Hunan";3.The never changed overall landscape pattern from ancient to modern through spontaneous evolution;4.Various forms of temples with local characteristics;5.Flexible and diverse landscape design according to the mountain.This paper integrates ArcGIS and topographic data to digitalize the landscape elements of Mount Heng.The systemic research from macro perspective fills the blank of former Mount Heng landscape research,and as positive significance for Mount Heng to restore its atmosphere and construct a Scenic Area with regional features.From the perspective of time,space and culture,this paper gives a comprehensive interpretation of landscape theory and method of Mount Heng's temples.The research expands the existing one-sided thinking to the overall cognitive level.
