Research On The Organization Of Urban Space Of Flows

Information and communications technology(ICT)and the application of mobile Internet are changing the mobility paradigm of urban factor,and affect the space of places continually.The mobility of factors and space of flows become the new organization logical of urban space,which surpasses the influences of the space of places.Under the background of the depth development of informationization and globalization,the space of flows i5 eontinuously affecting the structure of regional and urban space.Currently,the urban china is facing the need of transformation.The improvement of the spatial mobility could help to improve the urban efficiency and spatial quality,to enhance the greening,intelligent and cultural development,so the space of flows is an important breakthrough of urban space transformation.Space of flow plays an important role in revitalizing the rigid urban land use and rising vitality of space.Also,space of flow helps to lubricate rigid space of place,guide the production of flexible space and mixed functional place.The existing researches on the space of flow mainly focus on the concepts and theoretical consideration.Most of researchers agreed the idea of the factor,s mobilites,and stressed the influence of globalization and informatization on the network of factor,s mobilities and the space of places.Based on the global and regional scale,the researchers focused on the mobility of technologies,innovation,capital,enterprises,etc.It can be seen that the mobility of production factors in the industrial society was emphasized,however,the mobility of resident's daily activities become the decisive factors for the reconstruction of urban space in the post-industrial society.So this thesis will put more focus on the resident' daily activities,and make the study of the organization structure of space of flows more concrete.Based on the above backgrounds,the basic research design is to start with the analysis of the theory of space of flows,and discusses the interaction mechanism of the space of flows,then to bring the measurement of space of flows and the organization form of space of flows.My research will mainly focus on two aspects,firstly,to analysis on the theoretical framework and the influencing mechanisms of the space of flows,including the system coupling of technology,activity,social institution and physical environment,the different urban form and its interaction in the information age,and the influencing of the time,space and distance on the construction of space of flows,and to put forward the organization form and characteristics of the space of flows,the role of space of flows on the transformation of the space of places.Secondly,to understand the organization structure,form and mode of space of flows through the measure the space of flows from the perspective of the resident' daily activities.Chapter one is the introduction.According to the newly changing of urban society with the influencing of the information and communication technologies,the development transformation of urban space and the importance of the space of flows for urban development,the thesis analysis the research backgrounds,the theoretical and practical significance of the research,reviews on the research progress of the space of flows at home and abroad,and make clear the related concepts and methods.Chapter ?.The author discusses on the organization theory of space of flows from the system of factor,different dimensions,the organization framework and spatial characteristics.The theoretical framework includes the interaction of the cyberspace,space of places and activity space,the factor systems of technologies,resident's activities,society,economy and physical environment,the three interaction dimensions of time,space and distance,as well as the spatial accessibility,the intensity of activities and the intensity of land use.Then the author summarized the five factors of structure of space of flows,including the nodes of place,path,network,boundary and scale.Chapter ? is the interaction mechanisms of the space of flows.This chapter mainly analysis the interaction of cyberspace,the space of places and the space of flows,and explains the changes of urban spatial structure and organization form under the effect of the space of flows.The new mobility paradigm brings the merging of technology,activity,society and space.The geographic embeddedness and spatial accumulation plays an important role on the transformation of spatial function.Meanwhile,the space of flows has some effects on the urban structure,the improvement of the space of places and the networked space.Chapter ? is the spatial mobility and the structure of the space of flows.This chapter built the evaluation index system of spatial mobility from the spatial accessibility,the intensity of resident' activity and land use.Based on the evaluation index of the spatial mobility,the distribution rule and spatial characteristics of spatial mobility,and the structure of the space of flows in Nanjing were analyzed.Chapter ? is the empirical research on the organization of the space of flows.Based on the database of the resident5 behavior and activities,the author analyzed the tempo-spatial distribution of resident' activities,including the tempo-spatial differentiation,the activity path,intensity and the boundary.Then the organization modes of the space of flows are discussed.Chapter ? is the development strategies and the suggestions for urban planning.The author gave the suggestions of the development strategy from the development of the space of flows,and the effect of the space of flows on the space of places.Meanwhile,some strategies,such as improving the efficiency of spatial mobility,the aggregation of urban activities,the transformation of the space of places and the controlling the boundary of urban mobility were suggested.Several urban planning methods,including the integration of urban infrastructure,the coordination of the people,activity and space,the mixed land use were put forward.The thesis tried to make the following innovations:First,the theoretical framework of the space of flows was constructed based on the interaction of cyberspace,the space of places and the space of flows from the dimensions of the time,space and distance,as well as the coupling of technology,activity,social culture and physical environment.The author pointed out that the essence of the space of flows was the activity space,and the space of flows included three levels,the spatial accessibility,the intensity of activity and land use.Meanwhile,the three analytical insights of the interaction of the space of flows were put forward.Secondly,the new perspective to understanding the space of flows was put forward from the resident' daily activity.Based on the analysis of the tempo-spatial distribution of resident,activities,the spatial connection of activities and the fiunction changing of urban places,the author brought out that it was an important way to understand the organization of the space of flows from the resident' daily activity space.The third,the new method to measure the space of flows was built.The evaluation mode of spatial mobility was put forward with the factors of the infrastructure supporting,the intensity of resident' activity and land use,this mode was the important method for measure the space of flows.
