Study On SBU’s Innovation Mechanism From The Perspective Of Dual Network Embeddedness

Over the past two decade,for the purpose of obtaining and maintaining competitive advantage in the rapid development of knowledge intensive industry,many literatures show that the ability to acquire and absorb knowledge from the external resources is more important for enterprise than the ablitiy to manage internal existing knowledge.A lot of knowledge flows through collaborative relationship between different organizations such as strategic alliance and cooperative investment,and also flows through informal personal networking.Research and technology development spans increasingly across organizational boundaries,collaborative innovation is carried out between the interorganisational network and individual informal network.With the rapid development of China’s economy,more and more diversified enterprise groups are growing.In recent years,the network’s structural characteristics have attracted more attention from researchers of social network theory.The research on network structure and organizational innovation performance has been a hot topic in the field of innovation management.At present,scholars from the global innovation management field pay more attention to the overall innovation ability of the group in the enterprise group technological innovation theory system,however,there is little systematic research on SBU’s technological innovation.Technological innovation of enterprise’s business unit is considered as the research object,this thesis focuses on three important issues "How business units does obtain,integrate and exploit enterprise group internal and external network resources to improve their innovation performance?";"How can the organization collaborative mechanism Moderate business unit to acquire,integrate and exploit network innovation resources inside and outside enterprise group in order to enhance its innovative performance?";And "How is SBU’s technological innovation performance evaluated to promote innovation motivation and initiative of each business unit?".Based on the theory of technological innovation,enterprise group theory,network embeddedness theory,absorptive capacity theory and other related theory,the relationship model between SBU’s dual network structure,absorptive capacity and innovation performance is constructed in this thesis.SBU’s dual network structure includes closure collaborative group network and dual business network,absorptive capacity includes potential absorptive capacity and realized absorptive capacity.Three sub-studies of this thesis include:1)to explore the relationship mechanism of SBU’s dual network structure absorptive capacity and technological innovation performance;2)organizational collaborative mechanism(organizational decentralization and organization connectivity)moderates these key variables in the constructed study model;3)the evaluation mechanism of SBU’s technological innovation relative performance under the perspective of network embeddedness and absorptive capacity.As for research methods,theoretical research,exploratory case study,SEM(structural equation model),SPSS and AHP(analytic hierarchy process)is comprehensively included in this thesis,and thus combine qualitative analysis and quantitative research.The above three sub research work is respectively to carry out,and the results show that:(1)There are differences in the effect of business network structure and group network structure on the two dimensions of SBU’s absorptive capacity and its innovation performance.The direct effect of dual business network structure is significant on potential absorptive capacity,but not significant on the realized absorptive capacity and SBU\s technolgical innovation performance.The relationship between group network structure and SBU’s technological innovation performance is inverted "U" shaped,suitable closure collaborative group network structure has a positive effect on SBU’s absorptive capacity and technological innovation performance,but the effect of extensive closure collaborative group network structure on SBU’s technological innovation performance is a negative.(2)The difference between influence mechanism of two dimensions of absorptive capacity(potential absorptive capacity and realized absorptive capacity)on the innovation performance of SBU is confirmed,and two dimensions of absorptive capacity play different mediating role between the dual network structure and innovation performance of SBU.In addition,the potential absorptive capacity and realized absorptive capacity significantly affect SBU’s technological innovation performance,but the effect of realized absorptive capacity is more significant,and the positive effect of potential absorptive capacity on realized absorptive capacity is significant.(3)The moderator effect of two variables of organizational cooperation mechanism(organizational decentralization and organization connectedness)are very different.Organizational decentralization positively moderates the relationship between business network structure and potential absorptive capacity,and negatively do the relationship between group network structure and potential absorptive capacity.The relationship between group network structure of and potential absorptive capacity of business unit is negatively moderated by organization connectivity,but organization connectedness’s moderating effect is not significant for the relationship of business network structure and SBU’s technolgical innovation performance.(4)Based on the influence mechanism of network embeddedness and absorptive capacity on SBU’s innovation performance,the evaluation framework and evaluation index system for SBU’s relative technological innovation performance is created.This paper uses analytic hierarchy process(AHP)to calculate the index weight,and introduces ’industry technological innovation difficulty coefficient’ as the correction parameter to revise the evaluation index score,and then business unit of an enterprise group is taken as an example.In sum,based on much theoretical discussion and case analysis research,this thesis explores in deep SBU’s technological innovation theory,including the influence mechanism,coordination mechanism and evaluation mechanism of SBU’s technological innovation from network embeddedness perspective,in order to enrich and develop enterprise group’s technological innovation theory system.
