A Research On Influencing Mechanism Of Enterprise Network Ability To Innovation Performance

Innovation ability is incomparable strategic asset and the inevitable choice for achieving competitive advantage and sustaining development of enterprise.With more open,more complex and more networked market environment,open innovation becomes key model for enterprise to achieving competitive advantage gradually as one kind of innovation pattern.Open innovation is the innovation made by knowledge generation and application,it provides new methods and approaches for enterprise.Outside a organization,there are abundant resources and opportunities,with which kind of network ability,can one enterprise mobilize,integrate and utilize various technologies and knowledge resources inside and outside the network to achieve the best practice of innovation model and improve enterprise innovation performance,which is the leading issue in the area of innovation management.According to research status,there are many dimensions in the research on relation between network ability formation,open innovation and the mechanism for improving enterprise innovation performance.However,it doesn't involve the research on relation between enterprise network ability and innovation performance.Therefore,the core of this paper is how to improve enterprise innovation performance by open innovation.The paper divides three stages to make study around the logic thread "enterprise network ability-open innovation-innovation performance".In the first stage through observing facts and reading abundant literature,and reviewing related research findings,it clears the paper's study space and value,and determines the paper's title and references.In the second stage,integrating some detailed reviews and a number of research results of network ability,open innovation and innovation management,it divides dimensions of the network ability based on new management dilemma of enterprise.Based on resource-based theory,ability-based theory and social network theory,it analyzes the relation between network ability and innovation performance from many dimensions,and the approach that network ability improves innovation performance through innovation model of open innovation to construct theoretical framework and it also presents 26 research hypotheses.In the third stage,with combination of pre-investigations and advices from professionals,it determines the measuring method and scale of all variables,using SPSS 19.0 and AMOS 19.0 to process the data and information from 309 enterprises.And then it makes path inspection for the hypotheses by descriptive statistics,factor analysis,correlation analysis and multiple hierarchical regression analysis,at last,it concludes the paper's empirical results and the main research conclusion.The paper does theory analysis and empirical research for network ability and innovation performance at the perspective of open innovation.It finds that:(1)it is important influence network ability to enterprise innovation performance,namely there is the more powerful enterprise network ability,the more help for enhancing innovation performance.By promoting network strategic ability,network process ability,network knowledge ability and network relation ability,it can enhance enterprise innovation performance significantly.(2)There is partial intermediation effect of inbound innovation and outbound innovation for enterprise network ability and innovation performance,as well as acceleration of that for playing network ability and promoting innovation performance.Especially,both these two kinds of open innovation have significant influence on network ability.Network strategic ability and network relation ability can be influenced by inbound innovation,and network strategic ability and network process ability can be influenced by outbound innovation as well.Enhancing innovation performance,is not only based on its network ability,but also the effective use of the approaches of open innovation.(3)there is negative intermediation between open innovation and innovation performance made by environmental competitiveness environment relaxation.The more competitive and relaxed environment,the more obscure positive intermediation that open innovation makes for enterprise innovation performance there is.That is to say,the enterprise grasped external innovation sources firstly can make success more easily.Therefore,in management practice,it should be paid attention to the establishment and development of network ability.By utilizing the approaches of inbound and outbound innovation positively,and taking advantage of the value of external network resources,it can promote enterprise innovation performance.Reviewing and concluding the paper's research process,there are following innovation points:(1)Measuring dimensions of enterprise network ability in the context of open innovation.Most of the previous estimations for enterprise network ability are made in closed innovation model.In open innovation,the structure of network ability needs to be updated.Based on previous research results,this paper updates and measures the structure and evaluation index of network ability.After the update and measurement,the enterprise network ability is more fit for current environment,and can do a favor for promoting accuracy of empirical test.(2)At the perspective of open innovation,this paper makes empirical research on the function mechanism of enterprise network ability and innovation performance.More competitiveness and more openness of environment,obscureness of the boundary of enterprise,joint innovation,obtaining external innovation sources and exporting innovation achievement have been the focus of innovation area.As a new model and approach of innovation for enterprise provided by open innovation,it is in favor of enterprise network ability and finding and utilizing the resources and opportunities outside enterprise.(3)For the first time,enterprise network ability,open innovation and enterprise innovation performance are included in one framework to do research in this paper.Enterprise network ability and open innovation is very important to enterprise innovation.Related research is just on the relation between each other,but they don't do research among these three factors in one framework.Combining with related research and resource-based theory,ability-based theory and social network theory,it introduces open innovation between network ability and enterprise innovation performance and gets the model of this research on the basis of the logic of "ability-approach-performance”in this paper.
