Tourism industry has become the world’s largest industry,the social and economic function of tourism industry is prominent more and more.As the world’s most important tourist destination,City has many functions of increasing the local income,driving the development of related industries,and improving the image of the city and so on.Xi’an is one of the world’s four big ancient capital and China’s traditional tourist hotspot cities,is also an inbound tourism destination city,it obtains a series of achievements after 30 years of development.As soon as achievements of the tourism industry,it also faces the structural defects,such as weak competitiveness development,transformation and upgrading of the tourism industry.Under the background of tourism development in our country,analyzing the growth of tourism destination and its evolution,it can enrich tourism destination development theory,provide scientific basis for improving and maintaining the tourism competitiveness.The urban tourism research,more focus on the competitiveness of tourism,tourist demand,flows of tourism spatial structure and tourism city image,etc.,and the study of urban tourism destination growth and strategic map is lacking.Growth and evolution in the tourist destination,the change of the external performance is tourist trips and tourism revenue,but in fact it is the comprehensive reflection of the inner structure change.Found scientific problems from practice,this paper summarized according to the technical route of founding the problem-ruling this mode-promoting theory,using the background trend line theory,life cycle theory of tourism,regional economics theory,the industrial structure theory,the strategic map theory,explores on the tourism development of xi "an evolution.Using the theory of tourism research growth trajectory of urban tourism destination,to build a resource-based city tourism destination’s growth pattern,explored the destination spatial structure evolution,the evolution of consumption structure,its growth trajectory and the destination of the interactive relationship each other.on this basis,using theory and method of the strategy map,author construct the strategy map of tourism destination development of Xi’an,proposed the path selection based on the analysis of the growth strategy.Through to the research of growth process and evolution tourism destination tourism in Xi’an,the main conclusions are as follows:(1)As a resource-based city tourism destination,Xi’an experienced four stages such as competition for resources,industry competition,competition and innovation destination,its destination tourism growth is nearly same compared with national tourism growth.Growth mode of Xi’an inbound tourism scale and the development of tourism income are scallop type,which are growth-stability-grow again,among them,1978-1994 is the first growth cycle,the second cycle is from 1995 to 2005.2006-2014 is the third cycle.the overall point of view,presents three scallops type S curve.The development of inbound tourism revenue in Xi’an is scallop type growth mode,but the cycle is different from the development of inbound tourism scale,among them,the first cycle is 1978-1978,the second cycle is 1994-1994,the third cycle is 2005-2013.From the perspective and the contrast,the number of inbound tourism and income are greatly influenced by special events,to verify the entry tourism development with strong fragility,among them,flood events in 1998 influence is relatively small,and the "89"incident,the SARS epidemic in 2003 and the 2008 wenchuan earthquake have bigger influence on the inbound tourism.Domestic tourism development is relatively small affected by special events,in addition to the SARS epidemic in 2003.the flood in 1998 and the wenchuan earthquake in 2008 years to the influence of xi ’an tourist trips and income are smaller.(2)The evolution model of tourism spatial structure of xi ’an are the growth pole mode---points-axis mode---core-periphery model-big xi ’an metropolitan circle.The spatial structure evolution and growth has a very close relationship.Growth curve and destination the coupling relationship between spatial structure evolution presents obvious stages,from highly consistent to differences emerged eventually evolved into the gap,there is a one-to-one relationship growth in spatial structure evolution and destination growth.When spatial structure of xi ’an is in attractions growth stage,the destination is given priority to with the development of tourism attraction;In the point-axis model growth stage,the destination is given priority to with line development;In the core-edge growth stage,the destination is given priority to with concentrated area development.(3)The growth of tourism destination has strong consistency with the inbound tourists,and has present positive correlation with the number of inbound tourists.There is a significant negative correlation between inbound tourists and destination growth.Tourist source countries is dispersed more and more,contribution of major inbound country to tourist trips and tourism income ratio is decreased.Tourism industry goes into the stable phase gradually.Xi ’an inbound tourism market growth is relatively stable,but there is the deficiency in the overall structure,foreigners niche market opportunity index is 0.18,shows that xi ’an in the large-scale development of such market potential has been a certain degree of digging,should be effective consolidation;The chance of Hong Kong,Macao and Taiwan market segment index is 6.79,studies have shown that xi ’an tourism products in this market segment sales status is far less than China’s overall status of the tourist products,there is a huge potential for development.(4)There is strong consistency between growth of the tourism destination and the domestic tourists amount,and there are positive relation with the domestic number of overnight visitors,local provincial tourist and other domestic market..Geographic concentration index of domestic tourism of xi’an trends to increase,the spatial distribution of the market tends to focus on.Tourists of shaanxi province,and the surrounding province such as henan.shanxi,shandong,sichuan,xian.are its domestic tourists resources,it shows that Xi’an had become the first destination of surrounding provinces.(5)There is strong consistency between growth of the tourism destination and inbound tourists,it is present positive correlation between inbound tourism and basic consumption.Tourist destination also has strong consistency with the growth of domestic consusumption,the growth of the tourism destination basic consumption has present positive correlation with domestic tourism.Inbound tourism consumption of Xi’an in such aspects as long distance transportation,shopping and hotel is bigger,the growth rate of shopping and accommodation consumption is significantly lower.Among the proportion of inbound consumption,rate of long distance transportation,shopping,and accommodation is bigger,although increase rate of entertainment,catering are bigger,but their share is low.Tours and proportion of posts and telecommunications communication are relatively fixed,and have little annual change.Rate and annual change inbound non-basic consumption is big and has downward trend.There is big increase rate in the domestic consumption of long distance transportation.sightseeing,shopping and entertainment,shopping proportion is on the decline,the dining,the city transportation and accommodation fee rate are relatively stable.The innovation of this paper lies in:First,studies growth trajectory of the resource-oriented city,refining its growth model.The second is the study of the destination spatial structure evolution,put forward the space evolution model,spatial structure and destination growth has the very good coupling relationship.And the third is the consumption structure has obvious relation between growth,The affect of main tourist country is weakened gradually with the development of tourism destination.
