This paper first systematically acquires the genetic types corresponding to the top one hundred global iron ore projects through the scientific literatures and commercial data.Each project corresponds to one or more deposits,through analyzing the genetic type of each project,and then identifying the deposit genetic type,finally getting the number of the top one hundred projects belonging to BIF type iron ore as 76,which accounts for 75.87%of global production,demonstrating the economic value of BIF iron ore.By summarizing the metallogenic belts and zones of 76 BIF type iron deposits,this paper further recognizes 10 typical study areas for researching regional metallogenic regularity of major BIF iron ore concentration areas.These areas are Western Australia's Hamersley Basin,Brazil's Iron Quadrangle and Carajas Iron Province,South Africa's Transvaal Basin,India's Singhbhum-Orissa Iron Craton,China's Anshan-Benxi iron metallogenic province,Russia's Kursk magnetic anomaly area,Ukraine's Krivoy Rog Basin,Canada's Labrador iron trough and the United States' Mount Mesa.BIF type iron ore shows obvious stratabound characteristics,intensively distributed in banded iron formation strata,controlled by the superposition of post-diagenesis tectonic movement,finally enriched and mineralized under the influence of hypogene process or supergene hypogene process.Therefore,this paper comprehensively summarizes the sequence characteristics of BIFs of 10 study areas,focusing on the diagenetic age of BIFs and the enrichment-mineralization age of BIFs,combined by exploring the effect of geotectonic movement towards BIF type mineralization patterns during metallogenesis.Simultaneously based on the study of typical deposits,this paper identifies the representative ore minerals of each study area and the dominant minerogenesis type,concludes the regional metallogenic regularity of ten typical BIF iron ore concentration areas,analyzes the diagenetic and metallogenic time lag of BIF formation,developes evolution model diagram for the sedimentation-diagenesis and enrichment-mineralization of typical banded iron formation globally,and ultimately establishes two iron ore metallogenic series types related to the diagenesis and mineralization of global BIFs:"Precambrian volcanic-sedimentary metamorphic type iron ore metallogenic series type" and"Phanerozoic supergenesis-generating enriched mineralisation iron ore metallogenic series type".Meanwhile the former metallogenic series type is further divided into two iron ore metallogenic series subtypes:"Proximal volcanic-sedimentary metamorphic type iron ore metallogenic series subtype(containing 7 metallogenic series of ore deposits)" and "Distal volcanic-sedimentary metamorphic type iron ore metallogenic series subtype(containing 4 metallogenic series of ore deposits)".sFrom regional metallogenic regularity researching,this paper subsequently tranformes to the study of iron ore commodity economy,and the investment and development strategy for iron ore projects.Study on iron ore commodity economy includes:product quality specifications and economic indicators of global representative iron ores,the international iron ore giants giants' breakeven costs estimation(from FOB cost to CFR cost to breakeven operating cost),inversion and data logic of long-term price forecasting.And the investment and development strategies of BIF projects include:overseas BIF iron ore resources acquisition strategy under the era opportunities of the Belt and Road Initiative,risk factors and signal recognition for project development,cash cost and investment intensity calculation of peer projects,"refinement of project construction" oriented feasibility study,finance&tax architecture design for acquisition of overseas project,review and inspiration of overseas project development case,and prospective analysis of IP standardization and Standards Internationalization for technical advantage of China mineral resources development.Through the above research,the whole process of evaluation methodology has been established from the regional metallogenic regularity to the investment and development of BIF mining projects.
