The Bower Manuscript, which is named after its discoverer, Lieutenant H, Bower,fell into the hands of that officer, early in the year 1890, in stupa of Kuchar, where he had gone, on a confidential mission from the Government of India, in quest of the murder of Dalgleish.The language in which the treatises of the Bower Manuscript are written, is a kind of ungrammatical Sanskrit, or a mixture of literary and popular Sanskrit.The Bower Manuscript are written in the Gupta script and have four writers. The external form of the collective Bower Manuscript is that of the Indian pothi. The total of the existing leaves of the Bower Manuscript is fifty-six. The Bower Manuscript in reality is a collection of seven distinct manuscripts. Parts ?-? treat Indian medicine, Parts IV and V contain two short manuals of Pasaka-kevali, or cubomancy, Part VI and VII contain two different portions of the same text, which is named by Mahamayuri Vidyarajni Sutra.The Bower Manuscipt is not only about pure language text, the literature text, or cultural history text, which have a great history meaning and value for study.It was the discovery of the Bower Manuscript and its publication in Calcutta which started the whole modern movement of the archaeological exploration of Eastern Turkestan.The Bower Manuscipt belongs to Indian Ayurveda system and its fundamental theory comes from Ayurveda. Discussing Part ?-? is essential to understand the ancient traditional medicine in India. It also has close relations with Buddhist medical.Part ?-? reflect many aspects India's ancient religious and social life.The text concerning divination with dice in the Bower Manuscript is the valuable information about cubomancy and Indian ancient social history.The Mahamayuri Vidyarajni Sutra contained in the Bower Manuscript make it reality to discuss the text and its expansion process of the Maha-mayuri vidya-rajni.The existence of the text in the Bower Manuscript provides evidence of the popular of mixed esoterism in Kuchar.
