"Two Newspapers and One Journal" (i.e. the newspapers People's Daily and Liberation Army Daily and the journal Red Flag) was an abnormal media phenomenon in a special period. It is worthwhile investigating the comments published on "Two Newspapers and One Journal." "Two Newspapers and One Journal" is a must-have topic for the study of contemporary news history and an objective need for studying contemporary news history, in particular, the news history of "Cultural Revolution". In contemporary news history research, the history of "Cultural Revolution" is a sensitive topic and thus a few of studies touch this topic. The ontological studies focused on "Two Newspapers and One Journal" are seldom found. So, this study delves into this topic and aims to fill this gap by taking a small step. It has a long way to go to completely and accurately present the comments on "Two Newspapers and One Journal"—this historic legacy.This study focuses on two aspects:Firstly, it restores the original history of comments on "Two Newspapers and One Journal" through observing the dynamic propaganda process of "Two Newspapers and One Journal" under the political model "Leader-Media-People"; and secondly, it identifies the intrinsic logic of "Two Newspapers and One Journal" by reviewing this authoritative media body, which experienced a journey from comments on "One Newspaper and One Journal", to "Two Newspapers and One Journal", and from comments on "Two Newspapers and One Journal" to special commentator articles.The body of this study consists of five chapters. This study follows a horizontal approach, namely, the historical development of "Two Newspaper and One Journal comments". Chapter One analyses the history of "Two Newspapers and One Journal" comments, namely, the evolution process from "One Newspaper and One Journal" to "Two Newspaper and One Journal". In Chapter Two, Three and Four, the ontology of "Two Newspapers and One Journal" comments during the Cultural Revolution is studied. Chapter Five reviews the end of "Two Newspapers and One Journal" comments, namely, the evolution process of this media, experienced from "Two Newspapers and One Journal" comments to special commenter articles.Chapter One analyzes the comments on the predecessor of "Two Newspapers and One Journal"—"One Newspaper and One Journal" in special historical scenarios and its evolution process to "Two Newspapers and One Journal" to adapt to the political situation at that time.Chapter Two discusses the existence basis for "Two Newspapers and One Journal", focusing on the propaganda system and authorized news media. It is found that the consistent media environment is the basis for the existence of "Two Newspapers and One Journal".Chapter Three starts from analyzing the topics of "Two Newspapers and One Journal" and identifies the intrinsic logic of synchronic existence of "Two Newspapers and One Journal" comments and their historical evolution. Based on this, this study further elaborates the falsity of "Two Newspapers and One Journal" comments against actual facts, as well as the evolutionary changes in line with the times.In Chapter Four, the propaganda route of "Two Newspaper and One Journal" is analyzed from two routes (i.e. news media propaganda and organized propaganda). The propaganda along these two routes is presented based on analyzing specific topics.Chapter Five illustrates the exit process of "Two Newspapers and One Journal" comments, namely, the "Two Newspapers and One Journal" comments compromised their authority and replaced with new authoritative articles written by "Special Commenters".Based on the above five chapters, this study concludes that there is intrinsic logic for "Two Newspaper and One Journal" comments witnessed a journey from reaching the peak to falling silent.Specifically, the birth of "Two Newspapers and One Journal" comments established an authoritative symbol beyond the texts under the political model of "Leader-Media-People"."Two Newspapers and One Journal" comments were granted the highest power through transiting the latest political instructions and involved in political power operation as an important player.
