First of all,in the perspective of cognitive theory,this dissertation studies on the categorization of Tibetan in Zhanglaogou Village.The ethnic identity is transcended by the selected kinship,which is the Mendelian modal.But Lamarckian modal is also the complementary one.After the social actor obtain their ethnic identities,the Tibetan in this village classify Tibetan into “Real Tibetan” “Not Real Tibetan”and “Authentic Tibetan”,while they separate Han people into “local Han” “ Han people in Minle County”and “Remoate Han”.All these classifications are based on the competition for limited resource,and this pattern reveals the psychological and social distance between each categories.Then the Tibetan achieves self-categorization by manipulating the mechanism of stereotype.During this progress,the local Tibetan are distinguished themselves from Han people in the line of basic value orientations,which is one of the standard of drawing the boundary.The second one is utilizing the cultural symbols.It's necessary to observe how the States,local government and tourism company play their roles in the ethnic distinction in the approach of “center-periphery”.Mati government,Mati Temple administration committee and the tourism company are trying to perform the Tibetan identity with the strategies of changing the landscape,culture transplanting and reconstruction.Meaning while,the periphery takes full advantage of the cultural symbols and signals affording by the center,picking tags from the local culture list to present their own identities.Based on the experience of Zhanglaogou Village,it's easy to jump to the conclusions: First of all,it's available to study the ethnic identity in the view of social categorization,which does help the research of the mechanism of identification and connects the micro-scope with the macro-scope.Secondly,it's hard to tell whether the ethnic boundary is clear or blur,diachronism and context is needed to figure this issue out.Last but not least,cultural nepotism can be obtained by the consistency of perceptible cultural symbols and basic value orientations.
