A Study On Modern Japanese Discourse

The study on the Japanese discourse meets the needs of the times and is a natural stage of development of Japanese linguistics.Besides studying the sentences and Sentence groups,the segments of a discourse,modern Japanese linguistics studies also focus on discourse integral structure,intertextual structure between the discourses or internal units and the relevance of a discourse.Based on the discourse study and corpora,the dissertation makes further discussion on the structure of modern Japanese discourse,the textual presence of the speaker,intertextuality of a discourse,formal syntax of the discourse and the titles and keywords of Japanese discourse by the methods of theoretical research,description and experiments respectively.The dissertation points out that there are syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations in a discourse just like sentences.In contrast to a sentence,the paradigmatic relation among a discourse is the relation between sentences or sentences groups and the association unit is called the functional case which is an original concept put forward by the author.The functional case is a dynamic concept,which is based on the function,a notion of new creation in Story Morphology by Vladimir Propp.The notion functional case belongs to the category of the discourse and it associates with sentences,sentence groups and the function of discourse.Based on that,the dissertation forms the structure of narrative grammar and proves the Greimas' s Semiotics by the mathematic model of matrix.The author holds that the speaker is the contextual constraint and the inner constraint of a discourse as well.The dissertation makes further discussions on the types of speakers and recursive phenomenon of the speaker by applying the turn and turn-taking analysis of conversation analysis in Japanese discourse analysis,which gets an ideal effect.The author attempts to build a new formal grammar model of Japanese in the dissertation.Accoeding to the theory of Grammar by Chomsky,the author analyses the four types of Grammar thoroughly and regards the description as data and judgment sentence as command language of a programme,the author holds that a discourse is not only a set of linguistic data but also a set of command language like a programme,a the synthesis of linguistic data and command language.According to that,the author suggests the hypothesis that discourse grammar can be the universal grammar of Turing machine and gives the definition of a series of formal text models,such as,description of specific moment in a discourse.The dissertation has a wide range of knowledge which covers the general linguistics,narratology,discrete mathematics and Principles of computer programming.In practice,the author uses the interdisciplinary knowledge to explore the Japanese discourse analysis,which shows that the discourse analysis will be sure to have a bright prospects.
