can be proved by the following well-known poets.Gu Yanwu,a poet also a thinker,who threw light on the social fashion of Qing Dynasty.Qian Qianyi and Wu Weiye,both of them are the leaders of the poetry school.Shen Deqian,another leader who proposed the poetry theory of Gediao.Besides,there also existing a literature corporation called Nan She,the three sponsors are Liu Yazi,Chen Qubing and Gao Xu.It no doubt that Jiangsu plays a key role in the poetry field of Qing Dynasty.In a certain point,it can stands for the whole poetry developing history of Qing Dynasty.The Qing dynasty became weaker and weaker and encountered a historical domestic trouble and foreign invasion since the Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty.There comes a poetry boom because of this tremendous changes after a sluggish in the Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty.This thesis will focus on the Jiangsu poetry in the late Qing Dynasty.This thesis will combs the developing process completely basing on the previous research.This thesis aims at revealing the history of Jiangsu Poetry even the whole Late Qing Dynasty which affected by the elements such as the time fashion,the district feature,the person-undergoing and the Poetry School.The late Qing Dynasty covers the period from the twentieth year of Daoguang period to the third year of Xuantong period.This could be divided into two period judging by the characteristics of the poetry school.The first part is Daoguang period and Xianfeng period.Jiangsu province suffered much because of the First Opium War and the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom happened in 1840 and 1853.Due to the war,the poets turn their eyes to the society and their own life which neither are smoothly.The second part last to Xuantong Period from the Tongzhi Period.The ruler tried their best to rejuvenate their economy and culture faring die out,so their comes the Tongzhi Restoration.Owing to this,the poets turn to the art of the Song Poetry,which stimulates other poets who are fond of the Tang Poetry.The result is that the two schools pitted against each other.This also the real situation of Jiangsu Poetry,but the poets who fond of the Tang Poetry gain the upper hand in the competition.While the Song Poetry School which are the ruler in the whole Qing Poetry School gains few supporters in Jiangsu Province.The revolution became the main current after the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895.So the literature revolution was proposed by the poets who realized the nature of the Qing Dynasty.So the three Poetry Schools coexists in this period.This thesis is composed of two parts.The first part focus on the poetry history of Daoguang and Xianfeng period which characterized by the poetry returning to the realism.There also a little difference between the poets live in the Daoguang and the poets live in Xianfeng.The poets in the Daoguang described the great changes while the poets in the Xianfeng pay more attention to their own suffering.The first chapter on the poets and their poems of period during the First Opium War,taking Lu Yitong,Jiang Dunfu,Bei Qingqiao and Lu Song as the examples.The second chapter describes the poets in the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom such as the Jin He,Jiang Shi and Wang Tao.The third chapter analyses the psychology and their trend of poetry writing who live in the bottom of the society.It no doubt that the poets live in Wumen are the appropriate case.In order to reveal the psychology and poetry trending which are affected by the wars and poets’ characteristics,so the poets selected carefully.The second part discusses the poetry schools in Jiangsu Province.The fourth chapter takes Fan Dangshi,Wang Xie and Weng Tonghe as example who are differ from each by their status.Generally speaking,Fan Dangshi is the core role of the Song Poetry School in Jiangsu Province.He learns from Huang Tingjian and Sushi,besides he has a relationship with the Tongcheng School who learn from the Song Essay.Wang Xie is the major poet in the late period of the Song Poetry School who close to Chen Sanli,a key poet of Tongguang School.Weng Tonghe’s poetry is pure and fresh which stands for another style of the Song Poetry.The fifth chapter focus on the poets of the Tang Poetry School.Yang Qi presents a unique style in the Poetry circles which occupied wholly by the Tongguang School.Shen Rujin is famous for his epic style which inherited from Du Fu.In fact,Xikun School also learn from Du Fu with the help of Li Shangyin.The sixth chapter is composed of Jin Tianyu and Nanshe School.Affected by the Poetry Revolution,Jin Tianyu insists on that a poet should take in the advantage of every Poetry Schools.The poets of Nanshe School advocate that the literature should serve for the revolution.The poets collected in this chapter differ from
