Convergence And Differences A Comparative Study Between The Paris School And The Decline Society

School of Paris and Storm Society are two significant groups of Modernism in their separated realm in the turning of 20th century.Their creation in art sought to Modernism and nationality,and their separated art features while they were viewed as groups.This dissertation argues,based on a compare study,generally,that these two groups have the aesthetics similar in their creatures.Meanwhile,they keep difference in deep considering their cultural tradition and environment at that time.School of Paris,the name given by later researchers,covered a group of emigrations,most of them are Jewish.The members keep a respective and free creations loosely,and do not have a unified style in the aspect of artistic proposition.The attitude that School of Paris keep is not as radical as other popular modernism schools in Paris involving Cubism,Fauvism.Besides of this,they did not occupy the leadership in Paris partly because of their Jewish identity.Anti—semitism prevailed in European at that time.Most Jewish painter living in poverty.Storm Society has its own declaration,with the full consciousness of Modernism art,and the clear ideas on the function of art,additionally,they pursued to reform society through modernism art.On aspects of ontology of art and their art features,the two groups have similarities due to the possibilities of modernity,and the coincidence of history.This reflected by the motifs,the landscape of modern city:streets,still life,people in their creatures firstly.They no longer obsessed with the classic theme,which eventually pushed them beyond their time,and created valuable multiple style.In the exploration of the ontology of art,diversity in painting,they have same position on these questions.In addition they tend to a nostalgia style,keep their separated art character,and focus on the modern life in their creation,but keep the distance away from abstract art.Overall,because of their living environment,individual experience,character and other reasons,their paintings share a melancholy characteristics.Concerning the social reality that time,their thought did not meet the expectation of most people.Their exploration on ontology of art,however,expires us through time.
