The Study On Charity Undertakings And Public Services In Religion

“Suppress evil and do good” is the common pursuit of the world's major religious values,including Buddhist philanthropic view,Taoist goodness-exhortation view,Christian love and devotion view,or Islamic Allah-worship view,which are the same in nature of the charity.“Charity and devotion” is a long tradition of religious organizations and has always maintained that charitable undertakings are not only the work and obligations of religious organizations,but also the aspirations and demands of religious believers.In modern society,groups and individuals with religious backgrounds voluntarily and autonomously carry out non-profit social affairs such as social assistance,education,medicine,sports,which have played a positive role and important influence on alleviating social contradictions,spreading charity culture,maintaining moral orders and promoting social progress.Charity is an important way for religion to enter and serve society.Although religion has the conditions and advantages of faith and resources in public charity,it is necessary to make good sense and value of religious charity the legal system,strong policy support and popular recognition support as an external environmental basis and conditional guarantee.At the same time,organizations of religious charity themselves should follow the principles of advancement,serving the society with equal,voluntary,open,transparent and strict self-disciplines and effective supervision,and actively establish a diversified main body of religious charity operation,promote the development of flexible operation mode of religious charity resources,promote the formation of standardized and efficient religious charity project operation mechanism,constantly improve the organization's internal management,enhance the organization's image construction and external marketing capabilities.At present,Chinese mainland region is actively exploring the religious participation in charity though modern methods.The existence of religious charity and public welfare has great potential room for its growth.It requires the government,religious charity organizations and the public to work together and promote the undertaking.The government should actively guide and earnestly encourage the growth of religious charity.Religious charity organizations improve the operation and management model to provide professional social services.The publics positively participate in,support and supervise religious charity and public welfare undertakings,and promote the religious social service.For the first time,this paper makes a comprehensive and systematic combing of religious charity,and takes Foguang Mountain and Salvation Army as the research cases.Through the ideological theory,social practice and experience,it analyzes three basic issues of why religious organizations should do charity,what charitable undertakings have been done,and how to do charity.The ideological theory combs the charitable ideas of the main religions,analyzes some practical methods,and clarifies close connection between religious cultures and the charity.Social practice parts show the charitable welfare and the social evaluation of Foguang Mountain and Salvation Army,and reveal the positive and extensive influence of the charity for the society and religious organizations themselves.Experience reflection parts analyze the importance of religious charity from the perspectives of social and religious aspects,sum up the basic contents of religious charity and public welfare,then analyze the three aspects of operation mechanism,policy and consciousness to do a good job of religious charity external conditions,and put forward an idea that doing a good job of religious charity public welfare need to follow the principle of operation mechanism and improve the internal management requirements.Finally,combining with the previous analysis and discussion,this paper puts forward reflection and suggestions for government,organization and society to advance religious charity of Chinese mainland,and tries to bring a strong countermeasure to the sustainable development of China's religious charity and public welfare undertakings.
