A Study On The Socical Functions Of Rebgong's Multi-religion

Based on Rebgong multi-religion,this paper chooses Rongbo Temple of the dGe-lugs-pa of Tibetan Buddhism,Wenjia Temple,the center of Bon religion,the mosque on Rongbo old street,the Nying �ma-pa in chu-khol and hor nag grong rda,as well as folk beliefs in Baoan to research on the main functions of multi-religion on social harmony and stable development in Rebgong area.The research will be conducted in four ways: firstly,the research will focus on the impact of multi-religion on the interior cohesion of the ethnic groups through observing the meaning of the religious rituals.Secondly,through an observation of the modern change of the multi-religious beliefs,the paper will analyze the influence of multi-religion on people's values,behavior and social orders.Thirdly,the paper will observe the religious local blending and cultural games of multi-religion to analyze the change of the disciples' identity and social recognition.Finally,the paper will investigate the balancing function of multi-religion on local community's harmony in the cultural conflicts through an analysis of the effect of modernization on different religious beliefs.Starting with the four ways,the paper's emphasis will be placed on multi-religious culture,particularly the inner interaction of Rebgong's main religious cultures and the interaction between religion and local social development.The structure of the paper will be designed according to the two clues of time and space.Time latitude consists of history and present,showing the development of religious beliefs;Space latitude includes sacred spots and earthly life,interpreting the connection of cognition and practice of different people.The paper is woven around the components and functions of religion.It starts with the core element of religion,the meaning of religious rituals and the interaction of religious cultures and proceeds to discuss the impact of religion on maintaining social order,disciple identity and the competition of different religious cultures.The paper holds that a series of ideas such as soul and present life,fate and responsibility,happiness and salvation constitute religion and they are also given value judgment and emotional factors,thus acquiring the function of recreating the world,that is,order and range,life norm and social integration.The paper is divided into five parts,including introduction,conclusion and the six middle chapters.The first part is the introduction,showing the meaning,purpose,methods and current situation of the research.The second part consists of the first two chapters,with an introduction of Regong's nature and cultural environment,it first describes the coexistence of multi-religion in this place.Then it categories the local religious circles into different religious communities based on its central belts�monasteries,mosques and temples,observing their respective functions in theirown religious communities.The third part is the most important and it analyzes different religions' local functions based on their forms,concepts and organizations.This part is composed of the third,forth and fifth chapters.It covers an analysis of the meaning of religious rituals,the changes of religious cultures,the interaction among different religions,the behavioral codes of disciples,psychology identity and cultural capital games.The forth part is chapter six and it discusses the secularization of religion and the functional changes of religion in local life in the background of modern conflicts.The fifth part is the conclusion,summing up the dynamic balancing function of multi-religion in the time and space latitude in Regong.The research findings show that because of the influence of historical tradition and surrounding cultural systems,the Tibetan religious belief is the leading one in Rebgong and different religions coexist.The coexistence of religions serves as the most central developing mechanism in the local social and human activities historically and it also shoulders the functions of adjusting ethnic psychology,integrating cultures and maintaining social orders.The coexistence of multi-religion on one hand implies religious morality and aesthetic appreciation in the systematic ideas and feelings,on the other hand,it externalizes religious ethics into the strict structural and standard conventions to form the inner cohesion of the people.The pattern of Rebgong's multi-religion maintains the order among different ethnic groups and establishes moral community to deal with the conflicts between modern and traditional society by the way of building up common and permanent emotions and motivations among the disciples.In addition,with the increasing influence of the modern society,religion gradually retires to the function of moral concern and psychological adjustment and in a long time it will continue to affect ways of living and people's communication,and this effect will definitely bring qualitative changes to the social life of Rebgong in the future.
