The Abstract:Guan Xue created by Zhang Zai,is an important part of Neo-Confucianism.through the Song,Yuan,Ming,Qing dynasties,Guan Xue emerged a number of major figures,Such as Lantian three Lu,Chang'an Li Fu,Sanyuan Wang Shu,Zhouzhi Li Yong and so on.He Ruilin is an important representative of the late Qing Dynasty.In the face of Confucianism orthodox increasingly declining and diversified academic challenges,he actively assumed the mission of maintaining Confucian orthodoxy when the country is in the internal and external problems.He Ruilin's Thought is based on Cheng Zhu's Neo-Confucianism.He Paid attention to the sorting and spreading of Confucian Classics,Through the practice of education to rebuild the social order,to achieve the Confucian philosophy and culture heritage and development,which is of great significance to the construction of culture and social development.He Ruilin worships Cheng Zhu's Neo-Confucianism all his life.He believes that human nature and natural law are unified,and the return of human nature is fundamental.The concept of respect is very important,and keeping respect which exists both in motion and in static is the foundation.Except for Cheng Zhu's Neo-Confucianism,he criticized all other academics to highlight the Confucian orthodoxy.The restoration of the social order is the extension of He Ruilin's Neo-Confucianism in the practical application,which is embodied in the political,economic,cultural and other three aspects.Politically,He Ruilin advocates the great Confucianism for the government,and learning is the foundation of the ruling.In dealing with ethnic issues,he claims that the Muslims should be indoctrinated with etiquette and elegant music to achieve national assimilation.Traditional Confucianism is still his cure for social contradictions.Economically,He Ruilin emphasizes the restoration of agricultural production and people's life in the form of traditional orthodoxy and reclamation.He has not yet realized that people's lives can be improved by expanding production through economic growth.In culture,he attaches importance to ancient rituals,especially funerals.Ritualism is the foundation of his reunification of social order,but he did not realize that the foundation of Ritualism in the late Qing society has been shaken.The core of He Ruilin's thought is his educational thought and practice,which not only focus on enlightenment education,but also attaches importance to sage education;in the final analysis,the talented people,the masters of the great Confucianism,is the key,but not the vulgar ones indulged in the study of imperial examination.The real Confucianism can expound the academic knowledge,guide ideology,revitalize official governance,and transform social traditions.On the other hand,he rejected Western learning,and still rely on Confucianism as the value of moral values,which results in that his concept of talents slightly behind in the transformation of modern society and that intellectuals in the cultural transition period generally face the cultural dilemma.It is worthy of future reflection.Through the comparative analysis of the two leading figures in the late Qing Dynasty,He Ruilin and Liu Guyu,the former,hoping to save society through Confucianism,adheres to Confucian orthodoxy,and seeks to realize the ideal of rebuilding the social ethical order by pursuing the ancient rites and enlightenment.On the contrary,the latter,hoping to save the society for realization of the revival of Confucianism,studies advanced Western technology and establishes industries to richen people and strengthen state.He Ruilin with the tendency to reflect on the history firmly grasps the roots of Chinese traditional culture,while Liu Guyu,who keeps with the times,actively absorbs the advanced ideas in an open mind.They respond to social crises in different ways;with the spirit dare to fulfilling one's responsibilities from Confucianism,they also takes on the mission of the times.From the perspective of academic history,He Ruilin's role in the inheritance and development of Guanxue and Guanxue history can not be ignored.From the practical point of view,his adherence to the traditional culture enlightens significantly our modern cultural self-consciousness.As a countryside sage,his educational function in local society is worth learning from.In Modern society,we needs to constantly tap the local excellent cultural resources,promote new countryside sage culture,inherit the ancestors of high moral,respect etiquette,and keep farming and reading.
