The research objects of this paper are the inter-generational characteristics, demonstrated in what manner by the contemporary Chinese writers who have experienced the “Cultural Revolution” in the “Cultural Revolution writing ”,the origin of this inter-generational characteristics, and the extent to which the "Cultural Revolution" has been inquired. This paper borrows the research methods and research results from American anthropologist Margaret Mead,Chinese sociology scholar Zhou Yi,and contemporary Chinese critic Hong Zhigang in the inter-generational perspective. It demonstrates inevitability that the writers in the same era within the group form similar spiritual world, and the writers group were born in different periods showing a certain degree of differentiation of the spiritual world inevitably.Writers who experience the “Cultural Revolution” are divided into three representatives of thegroups:“return”generation,“Cultural Revolution” generation as well as“Post-Cultural Revolution” generation. This paper discusses the differences in the the Cultural Revolution writing and the causes of these differences. At the same time, another problem comes into the research perspective.Different inter-generational writers in the Cultural Revolution are faced with a dilemma---how to balance the relationship between the exploration of the causes of the disaster and the inevitable trauma after the questioning. But,it is the decision of this puzzle to determine their ultimate orientation of the Cultural Revolution and examine the extent of the causes of disaster arrived. The basic structure of this paper are as follows:The first chapter illustrates the beginning and the prelude of the "first three years" of the Cultural Revolution writing in the new period. The reason is that the "first three years" of the Cultural Revolution was situated in a “volatile and uncertain” special context. The ambiguity of the political situation determines the slowness of the advent of flourishing literature, but also determines that the most significant mission of literature at this time is to break many forbidden zones in the “Cultural Revolution Literature”.Although the works also reflects the return of some literary quality and tradition, its literariness is limited, yet it is also this limitation that lays the foundation for the new era of the Cultural Revolution writing. The second chapter is focused on the Cultural Revolution writing of “return” generation. For the “return” generation, the most important meaning of “return”is not to be given the power of creation again, but to regain the identity of “revolutionary intellectuals” and thus to end the spirit of chaos and wandering soul. The “returning heroes” absolutely makes their Cultural Revolution writings with being symptomatic of “mythological reconstruction”deliberately highlighting the suffering and the choice between love andrevolution, thus they emphasize asceticism they suffered for their ideals and then argue legitimacy of their “return”.However, the identity of the revolutionary intellectuals has determined that behavior that reshape charisma will encounter bottlenecks and hinder the“return” generation of inquiry and reflection on history. The third chapter takes the cultural revolution writings of the “Cultural Revolution” as the research object.According to the differences among identity, experience, personality and so on,the “Cultural Revolution” generation is categorized into three camps: idealists, skeptics, realists.Commensurately, this classification determines their cultural revolution writings that are characteristic of the reconstruction of spirit, the doubt of history, and daily consciousness. However, despite the differentiation of the spirit world has shown a“descending” trend in the “Cultural Revolution” generation, the early education of the revolutionary idealism and rural reality of the deep suffering set a bottom line for their "degenerate",the bottom line reflects perseverance of the ideal,so even if one of the realists can do the greatest deconstruction to fill the emptiness of grand words with the daily spirit,it is this adherence to the spirit of the bottom line for their cultural revolution setting a restricted area, which avoid to touch the dark side of human nature. The fourth chapter takes the Cultural Revolution writings after the “Cultural Revolution”generation as the object.Because of the relatively Insipid life experiences and abundant cultural resources, the “Post-Cultural Revolution” generation is endowed with the temperament that writers are suspicious of everything and the courage that they can deconstruct everything, making writers gauge human nature with the greatest malicious intention and question history. The absurd statements that life is full of violence and the background of life overturned the two previous generations of the interpretation of the world. Moreover, they deconstructed all possible warmth and goodwill, even they had no sympathy with their family and even their own,the deconstruction and blasphemy of taboo undoubtedly enabled them to question history in the maximum way,but also left them with unhealed trauma.Based on systematical analysis of the differences between the three inter-generational writers' cultural revolution writings, the purpose and conclusion of this paper is that the Cultural Revolution is written as a kind of disaster narrative,so that any inter-generational writer can not avoid the choice of a problem, that is,how to make a maximum interpretation on the causes of catastrophe and how to face trauma after a maximum speculation. On account of the group experience, identity, spiritual world etc,the three generations of writers made a different decision. This choice maintains its stability of spiritual world,at the same time, hindering their inquiry and reflection of history,or discarding the possibility to heal the wounds and save themselves after touching the darkness of human nature. The inter-generational approach,as a method of combing the Cultural Revolution since the newperiod, clearly helped us to know the extent to which the "Cultural Revolution" has been inquired and reflected and the origin,as well as why writers who had no intercourse with "Cultural Revolution" would form prototype about "Cultural Revolution" etc.
