To explore the special value of Tang Ying in the history of literature,we can’t neglect her "new citizen" tag. However,I think there’s another part from her fictions is hide by her "new citizen" tag which is worth studying. That’s "the Cultural Revolution" writing in her fictions. On the one hand,Tang Ying has published 34 fictions,20 of them are related to "the Cultural Revolution",8 of them are written with "the Cultural Revolution",theme;on the other hand,Tang Ying’s writing strategy is different from other "the New Citizen" writers. She didn’t use "new citizen" logic to dispel "political discourse" and she was used to putting the theme of "the Cultural Revolution" together with "the New Citizen Culture" and the "immigrant experience"into one text, making them impact with each other, which led to unique thinking of"the Cultural Revolution".To make an accurate description of Tang Ying’s position in the history of "the Cultural Revolution" writing, the dissertation is trying to start from the detailed text elucidation.Firstly,I focused on two groups in her fictions, one suffered visible hurt and the other suffered invisible hurt.Standing on "current moment" context,Tang Ying recalled and rethought "visible hurt" by disclosed people’s "anomaly" behavior. In the same time, she shaped a group of "people disjoint from the age"(" 时代真空人 ")which proved the possibility of "the absence of the Cultural Revolution".However, she dispelled the meaning of the group afterward, which indicated her focus on both "the Cultural Revolution" and "the New Citizen" life, and she tended to put the thinking of "the Cultural Revolution" into "daily writing".Secondly,Tang Ying constructed the spatial pattern of "two cities",letting "the Cultural Revolution"met with different cultures, and put "the Cultural Revolution" into the dimension of"immigrant experience".I want to research why she wrote in this way. Finally,I will discuss her unique narrative strategy of "the Cultural Revolution" from narrative time and narrative viewpoint. In the epilogue part,I want further complete the description of Tang Ying’s special meaning to the literature history. |
