There is a center and an edge in the cultural space. To a great extent, the edge determines the conditions of the space.Anshun Dixi is a kind of rare drama, which is formed by the marginal path of bringing drama into the ceremony. Created by the villagers of Tunpu, the Dixi inherits from the military drama performed at a worshipping ceremony, so it is not only full of the nature of the ceremony, but also has the features of drama. Since the ancestors of Tunpu moved to the central Guizhou, they have kept the tradition of performing arts at the ceremony, and besides, selected the mature dramatic elements based on the realistic need, brought them into the ceremony, and finally led to the Dixi.Each piece of Anshun Dixi has its complete libretto, which stems from historical novel with the forms of classic scripts and lyrical work. It is performed with the main feature of wearing a mask and another feature of narrative in accordance with libretto.The music of Anshun Dixi is composed of gong's voices, drum's voices and singing. The singing is overlapped of one single song, which keeps the close relation to the Folk Songs sung in central Guizhou. The voices of gong and drum have the characteristic of categorization, while the music of the Dixi is recognized as the characteristic of high-pitched art that integrates dialogue, acting and singing. Based on the folk songs in central Guizhou, the music of local drama is a blend of the operas of wooden clappers and the high-pitched music. In addition, it is performed to the accompaniment of libretto. To some extent, the music of Anshun Dixi is the cultural remains of music of central China in central Guizhou.Anshun Dixi stems from the historical hardships of Tunpu villagers in the marginal area. Having gone through some historical changes, it has successively developed in many various forms, which are dependent on the support from government, social elite, opera fans, villager, scholars, and so on. Meanwhile, these forms are embodied in the inheritance of practice and text symbols as well as the transmission of different medias such as newspaper, internet and travel. At the any stage of its development, Anshun Dixi displays the close relation between a center and an edge in the cultural space.Although Anshun Dixi exists in the marginal area, it stands for the center point of the marginal culture with its shaping path, morphological characteristics, sustainable development and spiritual pursuit. Basically speaking, the inheritance of Dixi comes from cultural consciousness of Tunpu villagers and their confidence on behalf of the centerculture. However, it is not always a stereotyped image of the center culture, while it has the flexibility and creation in the process of inheritance. Dixi embodies the rule of inheritance in the marginal culture, which refers to inheritance in the marginal culture driven by cultural confidence and cultural self-consciousness, the most fundamental reason of this phenomenon is the cultural needs of the ethnic group.
