Geographical Records of the New Book of Tang Dynasty,part of the New Book of Tang Dynasty(《新唐书》)compiled by Ouyang Xiu and Song Qi of the northern song dynasty,records the evolution of the states and counties of Tang dynasty,the number of the registered residents during Tianbao,the distribution of the ten Dao(道),the transportation among Tang and other countries and so on.Compared with Geographical Records of the Old Book of Tang Dynasty(《旧唐书·地理志)》),it more abundant in content and strict in style,thus,it has very important academic value on study of the geography of Tang dynasty.This thesis takes Geographical Records of the New Book of Tang Dynasty as its study object,including study on its source of historical data,"Tu-gong"(土贡)of Tang dynasty,other geographical literature related,emendation of the words and correction of its historical record.There are lots of contents in Geographical Records of the New Book of Tang Dynasty don’t exist in Old Book of Tang Dynasty.It is very crucial for the reliablity of the records of it whether they have credible source.Study found that it doesn’t only follow the records of Geographical Records of the Old Book of Tang Dynasty,but also widely collects books writen by authors of Tang such as Jia Dan’s(贾耽)Huang Hua Si Da Ji(《皇华四达记》)and academic works of scholars of Song like Song Minqiu’s(宋敏求)Chang An Zhi(《长安志》),even the first-hand information such as stone incriptions has been used.This approach shows that the officials of Song have possessed advanced historical oppions in the use of the source of historical data.Tu-gong(土贡)of Tang is recorded in Geographical Records of the New Book of Tang Dynasty,which provides materials for study on it.There are many errors of words by priting and mistakes by misunderstood of the schorlars in thees records which includes many names and descriptions of things in Tang dynasty.This chapter uses the comparison among Geographical Recrds of the New Book of Tang Dynasty and other books to study the difference of them and draw the right conclusion.On the specific age of the Tu-gong(土贡)recorded in Geographical Records of the New Book of Tang Dynasty,some scholar gets a wrong judgment because of lack of deeply cognition of the book itself,so the second section puts forward a new view on the age of the.Tu-gong(土贡)according to the evidences provided by the book itself.Besides,the third section has revealed the different use on the names of Tu-gong(土贡)between Geographical Records of the New Book of Tang Dynasty and other books which expressed the stylistic persuit of ancient and uncommon of the scholars invovled.Chapter Three and Four focuses on emenditon of the errors of words caused by hundreds years of printing and study of the mistakes of historical facts though compararison of different from Song and Yuan dynasty and relevant records of other books such as Geographical Records of the Old Book of Tang Dynasty,Yuan He Jun Xian Zhi(《元和郡县志》),Tong Dian(《通典》)and so on,totally found more than two hundred errors and mistakes and concluded some special methods for the words of Geographical Records(地理志)。The emendation of the errors of GeographicalRecords of the Old Book of Tang Dynasty is in appendix.Geographical texts of Tang are the basis of the records of Geographical Records of the New Book of Tang Dynasty and foundation of the study of Geography of Tang dynasty,while they still have many unresolved problems.Chapter Five focus on the problems in Geography of Tang dynasty and the geographical texts,including the accurate age that Chang’an(长安)renamede Xijing(西京),the specific year of the Tianbao(天宝)population recorded by Geographical Records of the New Book of Tang Dynasty and so on. |
